A low maintenance routine
We took a quick trip upstate to see the changing leaves and go apple picking this weekend. It was really lovely to unplug, relax in front of a fireplace, and enjoy a little road trip (which is rare for us since we don’t drive here in the city).
I’m usually quite prepared for trips and pack a few days in advance, but in this case I threw a bunch of skincare and makeup into my tote the morning we left. Here’s the skincare I ended up with:
Borghese Advanced Fango Active Mud (travel size $12) – I love doing masks with friends on trips! This one is great for unclogging pores, but it’s not drying at all (like many mud masks I’ve tried).
Escada Turquoise Summer (limited edition) – maybe not the best fall scent (definitely missed my Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Coco), but this fragrance is lovely nonetheless.
Malin & Goetz Vitamin E Face Moisturizer (full size $50)- this is hydrating without being heavy and it smells nice. It’s a great basic for day or night. Reed enjoys this too!
Oribe Mystify Restyling Spray (travel size $22) – I’ve been looking for something like this for a while! It basically helps perk your hair back up. This one smells really luxurious, but it doesn’t do enough in my opinion.
Burt’s Bees Renewal Smoothing Eye Cream (full size $9) – I haven’t been using this for long enough to tell if it’s helping with lines, but it gives lightweight moisture, plays well with concealer, and hasn’t given me milia.
Hanalei Lip Treatment in clear (full size $20) – this tiny tube is full of non-sticky lip balm. It feels thick in the tube, but it’s actually very emollient and smooths onto the lips nicely.
Bliss Cold Pressed Olive Oil Foaming Cleanser* (full size $15)- my favorite makeup remover (reviewed here!), especially for travel in this convenient solid form. It takes all of my makeup off and foams up to cleanse my skin too.
Australian Gold Mineral Sunscreen Tinted Face Lotion SPF 50 – I had used this same tiny jar in Mexico, so I just re-filled it for this trip. The matte finish is way better in humid weather – my skin looked a bit dry after applying this.
The whole weekend was about unwinding and it was actually nice to have a more minimal routine for a couple days. Thankfully, I had grabbed some of my favorites, like the Bliss cleanser, Hanalei lip balm, and Malin + Goetz moisturizer. Next time I’ll be sure to bring my Clinique Pep-start SPF 50 instead.
