Vapour Beauty Review and Swatches! Illusionist Concealer, Elixir Plumping Gloss, Aura Multi-use Stain, and Siren Lipsticks

My favorite clean makeup

I love everything about Vapour Organic Beauty – from their clean ingredients and focus on sustainability to the chic packaging and beautiful formulas. I discovered their products about a year ago from Credo Beauty and have been in love ever since. I also purchased a couple things from Dermstore back in April and reviewed them here. A couple weeks ago, Vapour was so kind to send over all of these gorgeous products so I could try more of the line!

These are the Siren Lipsticks in Desire (left) and Incognito (right) and I find this formula so comfortable to wear! It lasts pretty well for a finish that’s a bit glossy too. Desire is my favorite since it’s such a wearable shade; it’s slightly more pink than my natural lip color and brightens my lips nicely. It also goes with pretty much any eye look I’ve done recently. Incognito is a pretty, deeper neutral tone; I like the brown undertones in this one. Since these reflect light well (because they’re a little glossy), they make my lips look really healthy and plump! I also love the fresh, fruity scent.

The berry swatch closest to my thumb is the Aura Multi-use Stain in Scandal. It is such a gorgeous color! On my cheeks, it looks like the perfect flush from being out in the cold. I also have the Classic version in Spark and this one does last longer throughout the day since it’s a stain; it doesn’t go on dry or chalky though thankfully and you have plenty of time to blend it. I like this best as a blush, although it’s a beautiful lip color too.

The Vapour Illusionist Concealer is my go-to for easy, natural-looking coverage. I use it under my eyes, on my cheeks and nose, and sometimes my chin as my base; I love how radiant it looks under the eyes especially. I originally reviewed shade 010 here and now I have shade 015! It’s a bit darker and more yellow; since I’m a tiny bit tan still (thanks, Mexico trip and Isle of Paradise!), this matches my skin quite well and then I use 010 to brighten under the eyes and the down the bridge of my nose (where I have a lot of redness). Here are comparison swatches using indoor lighting and my phone’s flash. 010 looks so light here that you’d think it doesn’t match my skintone, but it’s actually just on the darkest part of my arm.

The swatch closet to my wrist is the Elixir Plumping Gloss in Flirt, which is a nice peachy shade. The formula isn’t sticky, but it is hydrating and has good color payoff. These glosses aren’t tingly (which I prefer) and I think the plumping effect comes from how juicy they make your lips look. They also smell like sweet strawberries or something – I love it! I want to try the shade Tickle next because I think it will make a great lip topper.

Overall, I am so impressed with everything I tried and can’t thank Vapour enough for sending such a generous package!

Updates to my Travel Skincare Routine

Three minis that saved my skin!

My skin tends to freak out when I travel; I get several tiny whiteheads on my chin and congestion in my pores on my inner cheeks, but then my nose and jaw are incredibly dry. It’s hard to balance changing climates between multiple cities and the utter dryness of planes. I don’t always get to bring my usual routine either since I want to pack light and generally don’t check a bag.

Thankfully, I received all of these cute minis in my October Allure Beauty Box and was able to test them out during my last three trips; I’m happy to say I’ve finally found a routine that works! I brought the Bliss Peel Pads (reviewed here!), Caudalie eye cream and my Drunk Elephant serums too, but here are three new products that I’m loving.

I’m quite impressed with Sunday Riley’s Ceramic Slip Cleanser. It has a gel texture that turns into a gentle foam with water. It’s purifying without stripping my skin and now I’m wishing I had tried this earlier! Sometimes cleansers with clay or charcoal are too drying for me, so I had avoided trying this, but I love most things from SR, so I should have known this would work for me too! I think it really helped with congestion.

The Caudalie Vinopure Skin Perfecting Serum addresses the acne on my chin thanks to salicylic acid as an active ingredient. It makes a great spot treatment for me, but those with blemish-prone or oily skin can apply it all over. This has a very thin, almost runny texture so it layers beautifully with other products. I’m actually nearly out of my mini, so I will have to get the full size soon!

Lastly, all of my dry patches have been quenched thanks to the Ultra Repair Cream from First Aid Beauty. I have used this in the past on my elbows, cuticles, and cracked heels, and it worked like a charm; my face never used to be this dry, so I hadn’t needed to use it on my nose or jaw until recently. It’s quite thick and soothing and I would definitely recommend keeping a jar around, especially in the winter (although I have to say this tube packaging is so convenient for travel!).

So there we have three little warriors that addressed conflicting skin issues during my last few trips. How do you prep your skin for travel or adjust your routine?

Verb Volume Shampoo and Conditioner (vs Ghost and Hydrate)

Comparing three great lines

You probably already know how much I love Verb if you’ve read my blog before or follow me on Instagram. I like everything I’ve tried so far and always look forward to testing out different lines within the brand. The Verb girls kindly sent over the Volume Shampoo and Conditioner and I’ve been using them for a couple weeks now.

I have fine, wavy hair that is easily weighed down, so I’m usually lacking volume. However, my hair is really dry and my waves turn into frizz without a little hydration. A few months ago I cut off over eight inches, so my hair falls to my collarbones now.

Overall the Volume Shampoo and Conditioner have really impressed me! They actually give my hair lift and thickness without creating tons of knots or taking away the healthy shine. I can definitely see a difference when I use this duo, especially around my crown where my hair can look quite flat. Thankfully, the shampoo cleanses well without stripping and the conditioner doesn’t leave any buildup behind. Most volumizing products haven’t worked for me; they either create so much texture that my hair looks messy and tangled or they don’t do anything at all. Verb’s Volume Shampoo and Conditioner are really effective, so I would highly recommend trying them if you’re looking for extra bounce.

So how does it compare to the other Verb duos? I’ve been using the Ghost line since I chopped my hair and it makes my strands look shiny and feel soft too. It is still my favorite line since my hair is so dry; it needs the balance between weightless moisture and bounce. When my hair was down to the middle of my back and a bit damaged due to the length, the Hydrate line was my very favorite. It’s so plush and moisturizing. The Hydrate Mask really replenished my hair and helped with frizz. I reviewed it along with the Ghost line here. I’ll definitely be using the Volume line once a week when I want some extra lift!

I love that all of the Verb Shampoos are sulfate-free and their Conditioners don’t weigh my hair down. The whole line is cruelty-free and each item is only $16 as well! If you’d like 16% off your order, you can shop with my friend link!

What’s in My Bag: Winter Beauty Edition

Essentials I’m toting around

I’m newly obsessed with Invisibobble. It’s such a simple, yet useful product! These hair ties don’t pull my hair out or give me headaches, but I find they hold on well (even through a tough cardio workout!). I also think they’re super cute.

The Caudalie Beauty Elixir* was one of the first facial mists I tried years ago and the scent is so nostalgic to me. It’s like a fresh, natural scent with a hint of fruitiness – very spa-like. I seriously love everything I’ve tried from the brand, and this one stays in my purse to hydrate my skin and refresh my makeup throughout the day. It is a glass bottle, so I’m careful with it. Thankfully this Charles and Keith Olive Crossbody has lots of snug spaces so it won’t break.

We were also gifted these beautiful pearl Scentbird travel sprays* at the Octoly Glitzmas party. I love how the nozzle twists down so I don’t have to worry about getting perfume all over my bag. I received Philosophy Amazing Grace; it’s subtle and pretty with tiny hints of floral, powder, and musk. It’s not my classic winter scent, but I really like being able to try out something new for a change without committing to a full size bottle! I’m definitely interested in their subscription!

Last, but certainly not least, this SkinRx Lab MadeCera Lip Balm is my new go-to for work or running around the city since it’s hydrating, low maintenance, and a gorgeous shade. I have Velvet Cherry* which their sweet team sent over; it’s the perfect subtle tint that darkens my natural lip tone but is still sheer, so you don’t have to worry about being too precise or getting it on your teeth. One application lasts a few hours too, which is great for a tinted balm.

What have you been carrying around lately? Have you ever tried Scentbird or a fragrance subscription?

Current Wishlist: Fashion and Beauty

A girl can dream, right?

I’ve been on a very low-buy for the past month (and plan on keeping it that way through all of December!), so I could focus my spending on others! I really love trying to find the perfect gift for my family and friends, and I happened across a few things I’d also love in the process of shopping too. I sometimes like to document these items to come back to in a month or two and see if I’m still drooling over them!

Asos Design Pleated Midi Skirt – orange, satin, pleats. Enough said?

Patchology FlashPatch Illuminating Eye Gels – these feel so luxurious and I’m not always super consistent with eye care, but these 5 minute masks couldn’t be easier.

Kendra Scott Sophee Drop Earrings in Silver – I received these in a Rocksbox a few months back and seriously regret not buying them then! They go with tons of different options, are large, yet dainty, and I’m trying to incorporate more silver into my jewelry wardrobe since my engagement ring is platinum.

Tory Burch Greer Mini Bag – fun for the holidays or just to jazz up a plain jeans and t-shirt outfit. I love the petite size and buckle detail.

Vapour Organic Beauty Elixir Plumping Lip Gloss – I basically want this yummy-smelling gloss in every shade, but I love Tickle and Flirt especially. Vapour is my favorite clean make-up brand too.

Voluspa Birthday Cake Macaron Candle – these candles make such great gifts and I love this sweet scent. The throw is impressive and the jars are quite beautiful.

Mejuri Moon Necklace – a beautiful, dainty piece that can worn every day but isn’t boring. I love the subtle sparkle and think it would layer well with other necklaces I already own.

Slip SlipSilk Pillowcase – I’ve read so many great things about these dreamy pillowcases and I do “suffer” from face creases since I’m a side/stomach sleeper. They’re quite a splurge that I don’t think I’d ever buy for myself.

Pat McGrath Labs MTHRSHP Sublime Bronze Temptation Eyeshadow Palette – another item I can’t justify buying (since I have so many shadow palettes). It’s absolutely stunning though and I actually think it would be quite versatile.

Ohii Gummy Gloss in Rose Quartz – such a gorgeous shade and I’m really into gloss lately. I’ve read that this works well on the lids too for that editorial, glassy look. I really want to try Urban Outfitters’ new beauty line!

Ilia Tinted Lip Conditioner in Blossom Lady – this is a really wearable pink and I love a good lip balm. Everything from Ilia looks so pretty!

Pieces Space Dye Sweater – I’m loving funkier sweaters lately and I don’t think I own anything in this color. The pointelle knit and mock neck are nice details too.

Heartloom Astrid Sweater – a fun color combo; I’m clearly into reds and pinks lately, and mock necks.

French Connection Sofia Colorblock Sweater – another mock neck… I’m always cold. I like the dramatic sleeves and neutral colors on this one.

New Look Satin Tux Trousers – I’d actually love this whole suit, but of the two, I think I’d wear the pants more. They seem fun for the holidays or paired with a graphic tee.

Pulling this list together helps me narrow down my wishlist and find trends in what I’m loving – there’s clearly satin and pink/red themes here! Anything you’ve been wishing for lately?
