Weekend Wear: Star-studded Jeans

Denim days, everyday

I pretty much live in jeans. They’re comfortable and so versatile! I like to switch up the cut, color, and details so I don’t get bored wearing plain old blue jeans all the time.

This pair has fun little star studs all over. It’s a unique, playful detail that I love. Would you believe they’re from Gap?? I think they’re a year or two old now. Here’s a similar pair, but this would also be a super simple diy project!

This looser, boyfriend fit is so laid back and comfortable. They’re a bit big at the waist, but that’s perfect for tucking in a fitted turtleneck. This plain black one is from Splendid; I also love the J Crew tissue tees they bring back each Fall.

On a personal note, I can wear heels again! I sprained my foot back in November and it’s still not 100% for some reason (relevé during ballet is not my favorite right now). However, I threw on these Nine West pumps and they weren’t painful! Yay for little wins.

What’s your favorite denim brand?? I’m always looking for new pairs!

Weekend Wear: Orange Bomber Jacket

I’m obsessed with orange

It was surprisingly warm this weekend, which was a lovely break from the 20 degree temps we usually have in January. I decided to celebrate with a colorful, casual look.

I’m slowly amassing orange clothing – it’s one of my favorite colors and makes me happy when I wear it. I now have a corduroy skirt, loose sweater, swing tee, and this gorgeous jacket from Scotch & Soda. It sold out unfortunately, but here’s a similar option from Uniqlo.

I’m also wearing a pair of burgundy legging jeans from Loft. They’re a softer material which makes them really comfortable and they have a cute back zip detail. The petite length hits right above my ankle which I find flattering.

Lastly, I’ve raved about Dolce Vita before and live in these suede sneakers in the cooler months. They have a higher shaft than your typical sneaker, so they keep my ankles warm, but they’re a perfect light taupe so they transition from winter to spring nicely. Here’s this year’s updated version.

What do you guys think about this orange and burgundy color combo?

Weekend Wear: Red!

My favorite #ootd yet

You know how certain outfits just makes you happy? This is my happy outfit. It’s totally casual but somewhat fashion-y. I’m wearing jeans – of course – and added two fun new additions to my wardrobe to make it more interesting.

Maje is one of my very favorite brands and Reed gave me two different Maje tees for Christmas. I especially love the floral embroidery and French phrase on this one. I’m going to be wearing it a ton.

This red faux fur coat from Lulu’s is my new favorite. It’s so cozy and comfortable, but looks chic with practically everything. Here is the cream version too.

By the way, my friend Aleph took these pictures – he’s the best!

The Rings I Wear Every Day

The story behind my favorite jewelry

These rings are my most important possessions. I wear them with every outfit on regular days and for all special occasions. So, since you may be seeing them regularly, I wanted to share why I’m always wearing them.

My mom gave me the blue star sapphire on the bottom. It’s really special because she purchased it herself when she was thirteen years old. Last year, my mom was telling her sister about it and it turned out my aunt actually had the ring! My mom had me try it on because blue is my favorite color. It fit perfectly on my right hand and I have worn it every day since. I love the two gold hearts around the setting – it’s like there’s one for each sister.

The high school ring was my grandma’s from 1942. People ask me about it all the time. My grandma passed away when I was a senior in high school; she was such a bright light in our family and I love wearing something of hers. I also liked the idea of a high school ring, but my school’s were not very pretty – this one is gorgeous and it’s also blue. I’ve worn this on my left hand for seven years.

Lastly, the heart ring is the one I’ve had the longest. My dad’s sister passed away about a week before my seventh birthday and it was a gift from her and another aunt. It was a little too big back then, so I didn’t start wearing it until I was older and now it’s always on my right hand. They had a little M engraved into it, which I love.

So these are my everyday rings – pretty little objects with meaningful stories attached to them. Do you have any sentimental jewelry or family heirlooms?

Weekend Wear: Freezing in Chicago

A quick outfit in snowy Chicago

It was -2* in Chicago earlier this week and about 5* when my mom quickly snapped this photo. I love being home, but I forgot how cold it can be! Thankfully, I received a few gifts to fight the freezing weather this year.

This vest is so comfortable and warm – I’ve even been wearing it around the house. I like that it doesn’t add too much bulk, so I can layer a jacket over it. I also love the floral print which has white, subtle pink, and blue colors.

I’ve been obsessed with these chenille fingerless gloves since Thanksgiving, so I was really happy to find the pink pair under the tree this year. I also received the scarf and matching beanie. I love them all! They’re so cozy and cute.

How do you stay warm in crazy cold temps?
