Current Wishlist: Fashion and Beauty

A girl can dream, right?

I’ve been on a very low-buy for the past month (and plan on keeping it that way through all of December!), so I could focus my spending on others! I really love trying to find the perfect gift for my family and friends, and I happened across a few things I’d also love in the process of shopping too. I sometimes like to document these items to come back to in a month or two and see if I’m still drooling over them!

Asos Design Pleated Midi Skirt – orange, satin, pleats. Enough said?

Patchology FlashPatch Illuminating Eye Gels – these feel so luxurious and I’m not always super consistent with eye care, but these 5 minute masks couldn’t be easier.

Kendra Scott Sophee Drop Earrings in Silver – I received these in a Rocksbox a few months back and seriously regret not buying them then! They go with tons of different options, are large, yet dainty, and I’m trying to incorporate more silver into my jewelry wardrobe since my engagement ring is platinum.

Tory Burch Greer Mini Bag – fun for the holidays or just to jazz up a plain jeans and t-shirt outfit. I love the petite size and buckle detail.

Vapour Organic Beauty Elixir Plumping Lip Gloss – I basically want this yummy-smelling gloss in every shade, but I love Tickle and Flirt especially. Vapour is my favorite clean make-up brand too.

Voluspa Birthday Cake Macaron Candle – these candles make such great gifts and I love this sweet scent. The throw is impressive and the jars are quite beautiful.

Mejuri Moon Necklace – a beautiful, dainty piece that can worn every day but isn’t boring. I love the subtle sparkle and think it would layer well with other necklaces I already own.

Slip SlipSilk Pillowcase – I’ve read so many great things about these dreamy pillowcases and I do “suffer” from face creases since I’m a side/stomach sleeper. They’re quite a splurge that I don’t think I’d ever buy for myself.

Pat McGrath Labs MTHRSHP Sublime Bronze Temptation Eyeshadow Palette – another item I can’t justify buying (since I have so many shadow palettes). It’s absolutely stunning though and I actually think it would be quite versatile.

Ohii Gummy Gloss in Rose Quartz – such a gorgeous shade and I’m really into gloss lately. I’ve read that this works well on the lids too for that editorial, glassy look. I really want to try Urban Outfitters’ new beauty line!

Ilia Tinted Lip Conditioner in Blossom Lady – this is a really wearable pink and I love a good lip balm. Everything from Ilia looks so pretty!

Pieces Space Dye Sweater – I’m loving funkier sweaters lately and I don’t think I own anything in this color. The pointelle knit and mock neck are nice details too.

Heartloom Astrid Sweater – a fun color combo; I’m clearly into reds and pinks lately, and mock necks.

French Connection Sofia Colorblock Sweater – another mock neck… I’m always cold. I like the dramatic sleeves and neutral colors on this one.

New Look Satin Tux Trousers – I’d actually love this whole suit, but of the two, I think I’d wear the pants more. They seem fun for the holidays or paired with a graphic tee.

Pulling this list together helps me narrow down my wishlist and find trends in what I’m loving – there’s clearly satin and pink/red themes here! Anything you’ve been wishing for lately?

Weekend Wear: Leopard Flats! OOTD #20

Jazzing up a basic outfit

I had to document this outfit because it’s very possibly the last time my ankles will see the light of day this season! Okay, I’m being dramatic, but I basically wear boots every day from November to February.

I’m also frequently wearing turtlenecks because I hate when my neck is freezing. This basic beige one is from Uniqlo and I’m really impressed with the quality. I’ve had it for over a year and it hasn’t pilled at all or lost its shape. It’s a thicker cotton too, so it’s warmer than your typical J Crew tissue turtleneck, but it’s still pretty soft. Here are this year’s color options.

These leopard flats are from Steve Madden. I think they’re the first pair of shoes I have from that brand; they were really affordable and surprisingly comfortable! I had been looking for non-calf hair leopard flats for so long!! I didn’t want ones with a print so tiny that it wasn’t noticeable or so large that it became gaudy. I was also looking for a pair that was too warm-toned and orange looking, but not black and white either. I wanted a pointed toe too. This ideal leopard flat was much harder to come by than I would have thought! I’m really glad I didn’t settle though because they’re perfect!

Lastly, I’m wearing my trusty brushed sateen legging jeans from Loft. These are so soft and fit like a glove, but they’re still comfortable and have the perfect amount of stretch. I love the ankle-skimming length on the petite ones (I’m 5’2″).

I’m also carrying an old black crossbody – I’m in the market for a new one actually. Any recommendations for favorite handbag brands? I used to be a huge fan of Kate Spade and Furla – they both have classic shapes and are really great quality that’s lasted me years. I’m looking for something more fashion-y though – maybe angular, more fun, top handle? Not totally sure yet.

Overall, this is a really simple look, but I wanted to share since a few of you asked over on Instagram.

Weekend Wear: Cozy Turtleneck (OOTD #19)

Loving this crisp weather!

October is my favorite month; I love that you can enjoy being outside without a thousand layers on. The weather is crisp and it’s still sunny quite often, so it’s lovely to walk around. I’ve always been drawn to water (I miss our view of Lake Michigan!), so I’m really thankful we can walk over to the Hudson River and enjoy the piers there.

These Dolce Vita suede sneakers are perfect for walking around the city. They’re really comfy and I love that they slip on easily. They’re also taller, so they cover my ankles, which is great when it’s chilly.

It may be a weird time of year to be getting into lighter colors, but I’ve been loving lighter wash denim lately. I usually wear dark or black denim during the week and then fun patterned or embellished pairs on the weekend. These are different for me because they have a clean finish without any distressing or rips, but the color is laid back. I also like the split hem at the bottom for a more casual finish. Mine are from Loft this past summer, but you can similar options here or here.

October is also the best time to wear cozy sweaters. Turtlenecks are my favorite because I’m usually cold if my neck and chest are exposed. This charcoal one is a mockneck and it’s chenille too, so it’s really snuggly. I’m also eyeing this beige one to finish out fall and this emerald one for the holidays.

I can’t believe it’s already Halloween tomorrow! This month has seriously flown by… A friend is coming to visit and I still have no idea what I’m going to dress up as… Any ideas? Are you dressing up this year?

Weekend Wear: Fall Jacket! (OOTD #18)

A perfect addition for fall

When I was back in Chicago a couple weeks ago, my family headed out to Kuiper’s Family Farm for my favorite fall activity: apple picking!! We picked loads of delicious apples and snacked on cinnamon sugar doughnuts and kettle corn from the huge barn store. Half of the fun of Kuiper’s is slowly making your way through all of the fun rooms full of unique goods, from food to home decor. They even have a wine and cider tasting room.

The weather was perfect for breaking in my new Blank NYC Corduroy Moto Jacket. It has the cool vibe of a leather jacket, but the corduroy fabric adds an interesting twist. I love the charcoal gray color as well. This jacket is really comfortable and warmer than I was expecting too! The cord fabric has a great weight to it that helps fend off the chill, but it’s not too bulky either.

We usual don’t venture over to the pumpkin farm side because it’s more kid focused and the store is much smaller. It was the first beautifully chilly fall day though, so we felt like sticking around for a bit longer. Fall is my very favorite season, so it was fun to get in the spirit.

Aren’t these mini pumpkins just the cutest? I had to include a photo because they’re so adorable and just scream fall to me.

Do you have a fall tradition? What’s your favorite season?

September Rocksbox! Monthly Jewelry Unboxing

Raving about this subscription

Here’s my second September Rocksbox! I posted the first one in my Instagram Story; it had some cute dainty gold pieces. This one has wowed me, so I thought I would share it on the blog because I love all three pieces!

I’ve worn these beautiful Kendra Scott Sophee Earrings the most so far. The silver tone goes with everything in my wardrobe and it’s a fun change for me, since most of my earrings are gold. I think the larger shape elevates a basic jeans and tee look perfectly too. I may have to keep these!

The pink color on this Dusk Fairy Bracelet is so pretty and subtle enough to wear with practically everything. I love the gold setting with the pink gemstones, and there are actually little diamond rhinestones in between each stone as well. I have a pretty small wrist, so this dangles a tiny bit, but it’s definitely not as loose as bracelets from some other brands.

Lastly, I really like this fun Moma Necklace from Rudiment. It’s more playful than many of my current necklaces and it adds a subtle bit of sparkle as well. I think it looks lovely layered with chunky sweaters or a plain v-neck tee. It also goes well with warm or cool toned outfits since it has a mix of gold, silver, and black.

This has been such a fun subscription and I look forward to receiving each box. I love that it’s flexible and you can send back your items a few times a month too. That way, I get to switch up my outfits with new jewelry almost weekly! If you want to try out Rocksbox, get a free box with code “jeansandgemsxoxo”!

P.S. How cute are my matching Lakur polishes too? Unrelated, but I had to include them since the colors were spot on!

Rocksbox Jewelry Subscription Box Review!

My favorite discovery from August!

Jewelry is my very favorite accessory; I love how it can completely change up your look, whether a layered necklace can make a plain jeans and tee outfit feel special, or the perfect simple earrings finish off a great dress. I have a lot of sentimental jewelry pieces that I wear daily (story behind my rings here), but I’ve been playing with more fun and trendy pieces lately.

When Rocksbox kindly reached out, it felt like the perfect opportunity! The subscription is such a great way to try out different styles and trends without having to commit. It’s $21 a month for three pieces of jewelry at a time. You can keep any piece you fall in love with and your credit will be applied to the purchase. Then you can get a new set and start again within the same month! If you’d like to try your first box for free, you can use code “jeansandgemsxoxo” at checkout!

As far as personalization, you can note which metals or colors you prefer as well as your ring size and other details. There are helpfully curated shops to browse too, like delicate styles or trending stones. I would definitely recommend making a wishlist; it takes just a few minutes and your Stylist will choose from here first. You can then preview your set and swap out pieces if you’d like. I thought my picks were great and simply swapped out a pair of earrings because I’ve been eyeing something similar to this star and moon style!

My Rocksbox package arrived only three days later! Opening the cute, tied box felt like unwrapping an exciting gift! Inside were three little pouches (each with bubble wrap to protect the jewelry), a care guide (so helpful and thoughtful!), info on prices and how to return my box, and an extra scratch off that turned out to be a $5 credit! I really appreciated the message my Stylist wrote for my box, with more details on each piece and tips for how to wear them.

The three items I received were a Dusk Deja Charm Necklace, Slate Lyra Earrings in Gunmetal, and a Dusk Story Slider Bracelet. I wore the earrings immediately and then again on the weekend – they jazzed up a basic work outfit and were perfect for a night out too. They also weren’t too heavy and felt comfortable all day. The necklace was a great everyday piece since it was so dainty. I liked the gold chain and four charms mixed with rhinestones and labradorite; it’s one of my favorite stones. I loved the slider on the bracelet since it was so easy to put on and added movement to the piece.

After a few wears, I knew my wardrobe wasn’t complete without the Lyra earrings! I was really debating on the necklace too, but I have a lot of dainty pieces and am looking forward to buying more of a layered style. It was so easy to purchase the earrings on the Rocksbox website and I applied the $21 credit from the monthly subscription cost. Then I rated all of my picks and sent the other two back in the original packaging.

I’ve already received three picks for my second set and it should be arriving early next week! I’m so impressed with Rocksbox and I’m definitely going to continue my subscription. It’s an awesome way to shake up my wardrobe and find pieces that I really love after experiencing them for a few days. I think this would make such a fun gift for someone or a wonderful treat for yourself.

Dreamy items on my list

looks-1533919839267

Mejuri Travel Case and Twin Necklace – I have almost this exact same necklace, but from LOFT; I’ve been wearing it so often recently that it’s definitely time to invest in a higher quality version. This little case also looks perfect for safely traveling with your jewelry in a cute, organized way.

Frank Body Birthday Cake Scrub, Illuminator, and Lip Tint in Send Nudes – I basically want to try everything from this brand. These three products are topping my wishlist since I would definitely use all of them! I love anything Birthday Cake scented and I’m almost out of my Sol de Janeiro Bod Buff too. I think I only own one or two highlighters that I never use, but this one looks like a subtle shine that would be perfect for everyday, and I’m obsessed with tinted lip balms and this one can be used on cheeks as well!

Pur-lisse BB Cream – I’ve been looking for a tinted moisturizer or BB Cream with physical SPF and I’ve read great reviews on this one. Love Purlisse’s face masks and I’ve been wanting to try some more of their K-beauty inspired line.

Bite Beauty French Pressed Gloss in Salted Caramel – I’m super into glossy lips right now and this color looks stunning! I adore Bite Beauty too.

First Aid Beauty Hello FAB Bendy Avocado Concealer – I’m loving the FAB Priming Moisturizer (reviewed here!) and would love to try their newest launch as well. IT’s supposed to by hydrating and stretch instead of crease, which sounds perfect!

Patchology Restoring Night Eye Gels – While I am slathering serums and masks all over my face and neck, I sometimes neglect my eye area. These seem like a super easy way to restore my delicate under-eye area overnight.

Ilia Summer Essential Face Palette – An all cream palette with usable colors! This screams summer and I would love to try more from Ilia, a clean beauty brand available at Credo.

Farmacy Honeymoon Glow – I still haven’t tried anything from Farmacy… I know! What am I waiting for? I just have so much skincare to get through, but this AHA/BHA serum may be my next purchase. It also has honey and hyaluronic acid, which my skin loves.

I think I’m going to start doing a wishlist monthly! It’s a great way to narrow down possible purchases and see what I’m loving that month. The theme here is clearly soft pinks, nudes, and golds. Plus a pop of blue, which is my favorite color.

What’s on your wishlist? Anything I should try?
