Makeup That Stays in my Purse – Fall Edition

Spilling what’s in my bag

If I’m ever missing a lipstick or gloss, the first place I check is my purse. I usually have a plethora of lip products in there at any given time. They’re the easiest way to switch up a look in my opinion. I also always have a little powder and some hand cream in a cute Glossier bubble pouch. So here are all of the beauty products I’m currently toting around:

Besame Vanilla Brightening Powder ($22) – this is my favorite setting powder. It looks so natural on the skin and the very slight yellow tint brightens beautifully. I like the packaging because it has a little cap inside that makes sure powder doesn’t fly everywhere and holds a soft powder puff for when you’re out and about. It also smells like vanilla.

Winky Lux Glazed Donut Lip Glaze in Berry Glaze ($13 – left swatch) – this gloss smells delicious. It’s a sheer purple tone with lots of shimmer. It catches the light beautifully and doesn’t feel gritty on the lips thankfully. I find it to be slightly moisturizing throughout the 2 hour wear time.

L’oreal Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in Sparkling Rose ($10 – 2nd from left) – this is a great everyday lipstick. The color is a medium pink with warm undertones that lightens my natural lip color. It feels like a lip balm and wears for about 3 hours.

Tocca Crema de Mano in Florence ($8) – I love this scent! It’s one of the only floral scents I really like wearing and it doesn’t give me a headache. Florence is the gardenia and xxx fragrance. This hand cream is moisturizing, but it’s not too thick, so it sinks in quickly.

Bite Agave Lip Mask in Maple ($26 – 2nd from right) – I’m sure you guys know by now how much I love these masks, so I’m sorry to be repetitive. Maple is a beautiful bronze color that looks really pretty and wearable on the lips. This is the most moisturizing lip product I’ve tried and it lasts for about 4 or 5 hours.

Tom Ford Soleil Lip Balm in 06 La Piscine ($36 – right swatch) – I love this vampy shade for fall. It is a tinted balm, so the color payoff is sheer, but I prefer that because it’s so low maintenance. It’s not very moisturizing, but the color lasts for over 4 hours.

So that’s what’s in my little purse makeup bag. The lip colors are constantly changing, so maybe I’ll do this seasonally!

Supergreat App Review – What is it and should you join?

An interesting new review app

Recently, I’ve seen a few of my beauty blogger friends on Instagram posting stories about an app called Supergreat. They were sharing fun, casual video reviews and some were unveiling the rewards they received! I thought it was almost too good to be true – free beauty products for sharing reviews I already was doing on my story?!

I created an account and made a few clips while getting ready one morning. It’s very addicting because of the short form video (60 seconds or less!), laidback feeling of the platform, and ease of uploading! I ended up posting 6 reviews in ten minutes!

You can search for any product, like Drunk Elephant above, and then add your own review. You can also very easily add new products because Supergreat pulls the picture, correct name, and link to purchase from online stores.

I really enjoy watching these short reviews because you tend to get the most important info right away (versus a 10 minute YouTube video that usually leaves this info for last). Many people are demoing the product at the same time which is really helpful!

Here’s a snapshot of review I did of the Milk Makeup Holographic Stick in Stardust. You can see the clip has 34 views. For every 10 views, you receive 1 coin from the app. You can also get a coin per 2 clicks (if someone wants to purchase the product) and for each friend you refer. Speaking of, please consider using my code “jeansandgems” to sign up if you’d like!

These coins translate to rewards on the app. They have sheet masks for only 20 coins or expensive candles for 70, so you can cash in relatively early or save up. I’m totally eyeing this Hourglass Bronzer below!

To redeem the hand cream above, you’d need to get 500 views across all of your clips, have 50 friends sign up, or 100 people click to purchase the product.

So it’s not exactly as easy as it seemed at first, but I do think it’s a fun and unique way to get rewarded for putting out reviews. I’ve been doing more Get Ready With Me stories and video reviews, so the Supergreat app, for me, is like a natural extension of that. It’s another place to save and share my reviews.

It’s refreshing to see less curated/edited video reviews and it reminds me of the original beauty community on YouTube. Absolutely anyone can do it – no fancy backgrounds or expensive lights needed!

So if that sounds like something you’d enjoy, I’d definitely recommend signing up! It’s totally free and you don’t have to contribute either – you can just subscribe to other users and watch, just like YouTube as well.

Kaja Beauty Giveaway! New K-beauty brand from Sephora

Sharing one of my favorite launches

I’m still loving Kaja Beauty, which has the cutest packaging and seriously dreamy textures. The Mochi Glow Bouncy Highlighter in Toy Alien is the only highlight I’ve worn since I received this box! I’ve also been wearing the Cheeky Stamp Blendable Blushes in Coy and Fiesty. Coy is a pretty, subtle pinkish nude while Fiesty is a brighter flush of pink.

I’m loving this line so much and I was really lucky to receive the most generous package from Memebox and Sephora, so I thought it would be fun to share these products!! I’m having a giveaway over on Instagram and it’s a breeze to enter. Pop over before it ends on Wednesday!

Herbivore Botanicals Prism Exfoliating Glow Potion Review!

My favorite new skincare find

I’ve officially found my favorite chemical exfoliant! Meet Prism Exfoliating Glow Potion from Herbivore Botanicals. This exfoliates with natural fruit acids to smooth out texture and unclog pores without drying out your skin. It has a watery, serum-like texture and dropper applicator.

I use about three drops per night and apply all over my face and neck. Prism sinks in pretty quickly and then I apply a basic moisturizer, like Clinique Moisture Surge, on top. I want something that will seal in moisture without interrupting the exfoliation process.

It’s been almost two months since I started using Prism and I’m about 1/3 done with the bottle. I usually don’t go through products this quickly, so I’m happy I’ve been so consistent with this part of my routine!

As far as results, I definitely think Prism has improved the texture and clarity of my skin. It’s softer, smoother, and my pores are less clogged. I’ve also noticed less redness in my cheeks in the morning, which is a huge win for me. I deal with a lot of flakiness around my nose and this gets rid of the dead skin cells in that area too.

I’m so happy to have discovered this thanks to Birchbox! It’s definitely on my “to repurchase” list!

Fresh Beauty Kitchen NYC – Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Swatches

Another beautiful shop

Anastasia and I finally popped by the gorgeous Fresh Beauty Kitchen last week. It’s a beautiful space with all kinds of interesting and playful displays that incorporate ingredients, like lemons and rose. You can even wrap your own bar of soap and they had an amazing gift with purchase while we were there. The staff was really friendly and helpful too!

Look at this glorious wall. I love the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments and didn’t even know about some of the shades, like Bloom and Spice. Aren’t these pretty colors? I love the warmer nude shades for fall.

The Sugar Lip Treatment is probably my favorite high end lip balm. The formula is moisturizing and easy to wear and reapply throughout the day. I also love the lemony scent and pretty, color-coordinated packaging. The darker ones sometimes get on my teeth since they’re incredibly emollient, so I stick to the lighter shades. This also means they melt really easily, so I wouldn’t recommend leaving them in a hot car or outdoors in the summer.

When Sugar Advanced Therapy in Dream came out, I didn’t think the color was terribly different from Rosé, but it’s actually much more sheer. It doesn’t have SPF either, but it has lip repairing ingredients instead. I have the original version and love using it before bed.

Lastly, there are a couple limited edition flavors in the Sugar Hydrating Lip Balm, like Peach and Chocolate. They smell amazing, of course, but they also have a teeny hint of color, so here are some more swatches for comparison.

If you’re a fan of Fresh or want to experience their products and learn about ingredients, I would definitely recommend stopping by!
