Makeup That Stays in my Purse – Fall Edition

Spilling what’s in my bag

If I’m ever missing a lipstick or gloss, the first place I check is my purse. I usually have a plethora of lip products in there at any given time. They’re the easiest way to switch up a look in my opinion. I also always have a little powder and some hand cream in a cute Glossier bubble pouch. So here are all of the beauty products I’m currently toting around:

Besame Vanilla Brightening Powder ($22) – this is my favorite setting powder. It looks so natural on the skin and the very slight yellow tint brightens beautifully. I like the packaging because it has a little cap inside that makes sure powder doesn’t fly everywhere and holds a soft powder puff for when you’re out and about. It also smells like vanilla.

Winky Lux Glazed Donut Lip Glaze in Berry Glaze ($13 – left swatch) – this gloss smells delicious. It’s a sheer purple tone with lots of shimmer. It catches the light beautifully and doesn’t feel gritty on the lips thankfully. I find it to be slightly moisturizing throughout the 2 hour wear time.

L’oreal Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in Sparkling Rose ($10 – 2nd from left) – this is a great everyday lipstick. The color is a medium pink with warm undertones that lightens my natural lip color. It feels like a lip balm and wears for about 3 hours.

Tocca Crema de Mano in Florence ($8) – I love this scent! It’s one of the only floral scents I really like wearing and it doesn’t give me a headache. Florence is the gardenia and xxx fragrance. This hand cream is moisturizing, but it’s not too thick, so it sinks in quickly.

Bite Agave Lip Mask in Maple ($26 – 2nd from right) – I’m sure you guys know by now how much I love these masks, so I’m sorry to be repetitive. Maple is a beautiful bronze color that looks really pretty and wearable on the lips. This is the most moisturizing lip product I’ve tried and it lasts for about 4 or 5 hours.

Tom Ford Soleil Lip Balm in 06 La Piscine ($36 – right swatch) – I love this vampy shade for fall. It is a tinted balm, so the color payoff is sheer, but I prefer that because it’s so low maintenance. It’s not very moisturizing, but the color lasts for over 4 hours.

So that’s what’s in my little purse makeup bag. The lip colors are constantly changing, so maybe I’ll do this seasonally!

Reviewing Hyped Products – Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops and Tatcha The Pearl Tinted Eye Illuminating Treatment

Are They Worth It?

I’m sure you’ve seen Tatcha’s The Pearl Tinted Eye Illuminating Treatment and Drunk Elephant’s D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops all over Instagram and the blogger community. They have beautiful packaging and raves about ingredients. I do love both brands, but I think their recent launches have been extremely hyped up, so I purchased them during the Sephora VIB sale to test out.

I also picked up another Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask during the sale because I’ve been wanting to try the Maple version. I adore this product; I have the Smashed version in my purse at all times and have gone through an entire Clear one. It may not be the most hyped product, but it’s a thousand times worth it!

Clearly, I’m a huge fan of the Agave Lip Masks, but what about the others? I was expecting The Pearl to be a blendable, hydrating eye cream with a little bit of coverage that turns two steps into only one. I do think it provides a nice level of coverage for every day, but it takes me a while to blend it in. I honestly think I put on regular eye cream and a separate concealer faster. Sarah sent me a great video explaining the best technique to apply The Pearl. It was super helpful! I think my issue is that it’s hard to pick up the correct amount of product, which then makes blending take a while or if there’s not enough, it looks uneven. I also don’t think it’s very hydrating unfortunately.

Thankfully, I love D-Bronzi, but again, I’ve learned that a little goes a long way. It’s a bit hard to control the pump – even one whole pump is too much for my face/skin tone – but once you do, this is such an easy and natural-looking bronzer. It adds a healthy amount of color that looks like the golden glow your skin may have after a sunny vacation. I love that it has protective ingredients that are good for your skin too. I usually rub the product between my fingers and then lightly blend around the perimeter of my face and down my neck. It plays well with other products, like concealer and powder too.

So, do I think these highly raved about products are worth the money? With D-Bronzi, I’d say yes! But with The Pearl, it depends. I prefer more minimal, fast base products and don’t mind taking some time with eyeshadow, for example. I also expect liquid and cream products to be very easy to blend and natural-looking on the skin. If you have ample time when you’re getting ready, you may want to try The Pearl.

Have you tried either of these?? What did you think?

Sephora Beauty Insider Appreciation Sale Recommendations (Fall VIB Sale)

Best items to buy with the discount!

The Sephora sale is back starting tomorrow for Rouge members! I’m actually not Rouge this year – thumbs up for not spending $1k in the past year, but I am sadly missing the 20% discount. As a VIB member, I get 15% off starting next Thursday, August 30th. Beauty Insiders get 10% starting next week as well. To shop online, use discount codes: YESROUGE, YESVIB, and YESINSIDER.

Here are some of my very favorite products that are worth a haul. I’ve repurchased most of these, including the Caudalie Sorbet, Drunk Elephant Bars, Bite Lip Mask, Josie Maran Body Butter, and Comptoir Sud Pacifique Perfume several times. Others are recent discoveries that have achieved HG status already, like the Isle of Paradise Drops and Herbivore Prism.

In the general, the sale is a great time to pick up high-end brands that are rarely discounted, like Pat McGrath and Tom Ford, and well as fragrances and discovery kits, so you can try more for even less. I’ll pop a wishlist on my Instagram Stories next week, but here are some tried and true recommendations:

Herbivore Botanicals Prism Exfoliating Glow Potion – This is my new favorite exfoliating serum. It has a pretty watery consistency that layers well with other skincare products. I only use this at night and happily wake up the next morning to soft, glowing skin. Full review coming soon, but I highly recommend this.

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet – A wonderful hydrating lotion with clean ingredients. This feels lightweight, helps with redness, and is cruelty-free, vegan, and oil-free. It also smells lovely and the packaging is cute.

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil – Another glow-making product! This is a hydrating and anti-aging overnight oil that replaces moisturizer and serum for me. It has retinol for plumping the skin, helping with wrinkles, and smoothing pores. I also love the blue tansy and chamomile ingredients for soothing redness.

Drunk Elephant Baby Pekee Bar and Juju Bar Travel Duo – These are so convenient for travel since they’re smaller and don’t count as a liquid. Even though they’re little, these last about six months or longer, so they’re definitely worth the price. The Pekee bar is amazing for gently removing makeup while Juju lightly exfoliates, making it a great morning or post-workout cleanser.

Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter – The unscented version is actually my favorite because it smells like whipped cream! This is my favorite body butter ever. It’s so hydrating without being heavy; the whipped formula is definitely light and luxurious. Since you can get a great body butter at Ulta for less than $10, I only splurge on this during the sale. It lasts a few months thankfully.

Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops – I use the Light version of these drops mixed into body lotion before I go to bed. I wake up a shade or two darker with even coverage and no orange tones. I never thought I’d be into self-tanning (it always seemed so time-consuming and hard to get it to look natural), but this has completely changed my mind. Full review here and routine details here!

Ciate London The Pretty Eyeshadow Palette – Out of all of my eyeshadows, this is my ultimate go-to. I use it every. single. day. You can create a very natural-looking matte eye, everyday shimmer look, or add drama for a night out. While it’s a neutral palette, the pop of orange, purple, and gold make it pretty versatile. It’s relatively affordable too and great for travel.

BareMinerals Invisible Bronze Powder Bronzer  – This is another item I use in my daily routine because it couldn’t be faster to apply and it looks so natural. I lightly sweep this along the perimeter of my face in a 3 shape. The Medium shade is perfect for me, even when I’m much more fair, so you may want to swatch this one in store. The texture/finish reminds me of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders; there’s a tiny bit of shimmer that adds a nice, healthy-looking glow with absolutely no detectable glitter particles.

Bite Agave Lip Mask – One of the most moisturizing lip balm products I’ve ever tried. It has a thicker consistency that melts onto the lips for a comfortable, plush feeling; this helps it last for a good few hours on the lips. The finish has some shine, but it’s not terribly glossy. Smashed is my favorite shade, but I’ve tried the clear and Champagne versions too. I really want to try the newer Maple and Lavender shades!

Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray – Amazing if you have dry or damaged hair! I love a lightweight leave-in that takes care of frizz, protects from UV, and adds a good dose of moisture; this spray does it all while smelling nice. I definitely want to explore more from this brand – they’re pretty clean and cruelty-free too.

Verb Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner – Another great fix for dry hair. This duo helped so much with my curls without being heavy. It also smells great, but it isn’t overbearing. I’m currently using the Ghost Line (reviewed here!) which I’m loving and may be better for my newly short hair. Either way, I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from this brand and it’s already affordable thankfully.

Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Coco – This is my favorite warm and sweet scent. It’s not too close to baked goods, but it definitely has some nostalgic vibes in my opinion. Vanilla is my classic winter scent, but the coconut in this adds a tropical vibe that is fun for warm-weather vacations too. Perfume is rarely on sale, so this is a great time to treat yourself or pick up gifts.

There are so many products and brands from Sephora that I love (Tata Harper, Hourglass, and First Aid Beauty to name a few), so I couldn’t include everything, but these products popped into my head right away and are so good I HAD to include them. What are your Sephora Favorites?? Anything new you’re picking up during the sale?

Dreamy items on my list

Mejuri Travel Case and Twin Necklace – I have almost this exact same necklace, but from LOFT; I’ve been wearing it so often recently that it’s definitely time to invest in a higher quality version. This little case also looks perfect for safely traveling with your jewelry in a cute, organized way.

Frank Body Birthday Cake Scrub, Illuminator, and Lip Tint in Send Nudes – I basically want to try everything from this brand. These three products are topping my wishlist since I would definitely use all of them! I love anything Birthday Cake scented and I’m almost out of my Sol de Janeiro Bod Buff too. I think I only own one or two highlighters that I never use, but this one looks like a subtle shine that would be perfect for everyday, and I’m obsessed with tinted lip balms and this one can be used on cheeks as well!

Pur-lisse BB Cream – I’ve been looking for a tinted moisturizer or BB Cream with physical SPF and I’ve read great reviews on this one. Love Purlisse’s face masks and I’ve been wanting to try some more of their K-beauty inspired line.

Bite Beauty French Pressed Gloss in Salted Caramel – I’m super into glossy lips right now and this color looks stunning! I adore Bite Beauty too.

First Aid Beauty Hello FAB Bendy Avocado Concealer – I’m loving the FAB Priming Moisturizer (reviewed here!) and would love to try their newest launch as well. IT’s supposed to by hydrating and stretch instead of crease, which sounds perfect!

Patchology Restoring Night Eye Gels – While I am slathering serums and masks all over my face and neck, I sometimes neglect my eye area. These seem like a super easy way to restore my delicate under-eye area overnight.

Ilia Summer Essential Face Palette – An all cream palette with usable colors! This screams summer and I would love to try more from Ilia, a clean beauty brand available at Credo.

Farmacy Honeymoon Glow – I still haven’t tried anything from Farmacy… I know! What am I waiting for? I just have so much skincare to get through, but this AHA/BHA serum may be my next purchase. It also has honey and hyaluronic acid, which my skin loves.

I think I’m going to start doing a wishlist monthly! It’s a great way to narrow down possible purchases and see what I’m loving that month. The theme here is clearly soft pinks, nudes, and golds. Plus a pop of blue, which is my favorite color.

What’s on your wishlist? Anything I should try?

Clean Beauty Round-up

Getting into green beauty

As I’m trying to incorporate more natural makeup and skincare into my routine, I wanted to share some new additions to my collection.

I love everything from Bite Beauty and the Amuse Bouche lipsticks are no exception. They’re creamy, smooth, and really pigmented.

This Clove and Hallow concealer covers the dark veins under my eyes so well. It also blends in nicely using the Ecotools Concealer Brush.

I’m usually not much of a primer girl, but the Whish Beauty primer is actually smoothing and hydrating on my skin. I’ve been enjoying the extra step in my routine.

I’ve been testing out some Mad Hippie skincare lately. I love that you can find the line at Whole Foods and it’s affordable compared to some other clean lines. I’ve been using the Vitamin A Serum twice a week to combat fine lines; I need to test it longer before I can give it my stamp of approval. I like the Cream Cleanser as a gentle morning face wash. It doesn’t remove my makeup, so I don’t use it at night.

This Beautycounter Nourishing Eye Cream is my favorite discovery from the line so far. It’s hydrating without being heavy.

Lastly, I’ve written about this Balance Me mask before, but I’m loving that it’s 98% natural and makes my skin feel so soft.

What are your favorite clean beauty products??
