Updates to my Shower Routine and Haircare

New bodycare and styling products

I’ve been using this Oribe Hydration and Anti-pollution Booster* for a few months now and I thought I had already raved about it here! Birchbox kindly sent it my way to create some content for their Instagram and I think it’s such a smart product; I use serum daily on my face and even sometimes on my body, so why not treat my hair the same?

This one has a thin, watery texture that’s packed with Hyaluronic acid to hydrate dry hair. I use about whole dropper of product as the first thing I apply to my hair once I’ve towel-dried it. I focus the serum around my crown where I get a lot of frizz and run it through my ends. I love how soft and moisturized this makes my hair feel. As with all Oribe products, it smells very luxurious and wonderful too! This is a pricey item, but I still have half the bottle left and I would easily spend more on a facial serum, so I think it’s worth the investment in my experience.

On day two or three hair, I’ve been using the Ghost Oil* from Verb to add back some moisture and perk up my strands after sleeping on them and flattening my waves. It truly is weightless and helps tame flyaways while adding shine. The texture is definitely thicker like a traditional oil, but it spreads nicely and is easy to rinse off my hands. I also like the minimal packaging and it smells great, like the rest of the Ghost line (reviewed the shampoo and conditioner here!). I had previously been using the Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil and like Ghost a bit better!

I’ve been testing their Dry Shampoo* too, which is a loose powder version. I like this smaller bottle for travel and it has a nice tapered nozzle for adding the powder directly to your roots. I tend to squeeze out too much on accident unfortunately, so I’m still trying to figure out the proper technique. As such, it requires a bit more working in than a traditional spray version, but it definitely adds volume! It gives my hair the perfect amount of grit and texture, which I really enjoy. By the way, you can always get 16% off Verb if you’d like to shop with me!

Lastly, my sweet friend Jessica sent me these beautiful body products from Soak + Unwind, a vegan and cruelty-free line. I love their minimal, chic packaging and pretty two-tone formulas. I can’t believe how affordable these are as well; I’ll definitely be restocking when I’m out!

The Whipped Sugar Scrub (left) has the perfect gritty texture that isn’t too harsh. It’s perfect to use before shaving. Sweet Dreams, to me, smells like lavender mixed with a tiny bit of candy (in a totally non-nauseating way), but it has a beautiful depth to it too. This is my new favorite body scrub!

I also love the scent of this Whipped Soap in Fall Vibes (right) which is basically the total opposite. It’s warmer, a bit spicy, and a bit fruity. It makes me feel cozy and is definitely reminiscent of apple picking in Autumn. The texture on this one is softer and a tad slippery, which creates a little lather.

These lovely products have shaken up my routine in the best way and I just had to share them all! What have you been loving lately?

Sephora Beauty Insider Appreciation Sale Recommendations (Fall VIB Sale)

Best items to buy with the discount!

The Sephora sale is back starting tomorrow for Rouge members! I’m actually not Rouge this year – thumbs up for not spending $1k in the past year, but I am sadly missing the 20% discount. As a VIB member, I get 15% off starting next Thursday, August 30th. Beauty Insiders get 10% starting next week as well. To shop online, use discount codes: YESROUGE, YESVIB, and YESINSIDER.

Here are some of my very favorite products that are worth a haul. I’ve repurchased most of these, including the Caudalie Sorbet, Drunk Elephant Bars, Bite Lip Mask, Josie Maran Body Butter, and Comptoir Sud Pacifique Perfume several times. Others are recent discoveries that have achieved HG status already, like the Isle of Paradise Drops and Herbivore Prism.

In the general, the sale is a great time to pick up high-end brands that are rarely discounted, like Pat McGrath and Tom Ford, and well as fragrances and discovery kits, so you can try more for even less. I’ll pop a wishlist on my Instagram Stories next week, but here are some tried and true recommendations:

Herbivore Botanicals Prism Exfoliating Glow Potion – This is my new favorite exfoliating serum. It has a pretty watery consistency that layers well with other skincare products. I only use this at night and happily wake up the next morning to soft, glowing skin. Full review coming soon, but I highly recommend this.

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet – A wonderful hydrating lotion with clean ingredients. This feels lightweight, helps with redness, and is cruelty-free, vegan, and oil-free. It also smells lovely and the packaging is cute.

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil – Another glow-making product! This is a hydrating and anti-aging overnight oil that replaces moisturizer and serum for me. It has retinol for plumping the skin, helping with wrinkles, and smoothing pores. I also love the blue tansy and chamomile ingredients for soothing redness.

Drunk Elephant Baby Pekee Bar and Juju Bar Travel Duo – These are so convenient for travel since they’re smaller and don’t count as a liquid. Even though they’re little, these last about six months or longer, so they’re definitely worth the price. The Pekee bar is amazing for gently removing makeup while Juju lightly exfoliates, making it a great morning or post-workout cleanser.

Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter – The unscented version is actually my favorite because it smells like whipped cream! This is my favorite body butter ever. It’s so hydrating without being heavy; the whipped formula is definitely light and luxurious. Since you can get a great body butter at Ulta for less than $10, I only splurge on this during the sale. It lasts a few months thankfully.

Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops – I use the Light version of these drops mixed into body lotion before I go to bed. I wake up a shade or two darker with even coverage and no orange tones. I never thought I’d be into self-tanning (it always seemed so time-consuming and hard to get it to look natural), but this has completely changed my mind. Full review here and routine details here!

Ciate London The Pretty Eyeshadow Palette – Out of all of my eyeshadows, this is my ultimate go-to. I use it every. single. day. You can create a very natural-looking matte eye, everyday shimmer look, or add drama for a night out. While it’s a neutral palette, the pop of orange, purple, and gold make it pretty versatile. It’s relatively affordable too and great for travel.

BareMinerals Invisible Bronze Powder Bronzer  – This is another item I use in my daily routine because it couldn’t be faster to apply and it looks so natural. I lightly sweep this along the perimeter of my face in a 3 shape. The Medium shade is perfect for me, even when I’m much more fair, so you may want to swatch this one in store. The texture/finish reminds me of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders; there’s a tiny bit of shimmer that adds a nice, healthy-looking glow with absolutely no detectable glitter particles.

Bite Agave Lip Mask – One of the most moisturizing lip balm products I’ve ever tried. It has a thicker consistency that melts onto the lips for a comfortable, plush feeling; this helps it last for a good few hours on the lips. The finish has some shine, but it’s not terribly glossy. Smashed is my favorite shade, but I’ve tried the clear and Champagne versions too. I really want to try the newer Maple and Lavender shades!

Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray – Amazing if you have dry or damaged hair! I love a lightweight leave-in that takes care of frizz, protects from UV, and adds a good dose of moisture; this spray does it all while smelling nice. I definitely want to explore more from this brand – they’re pretty clean and cruelty-free too.

Verb Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner – Another great fix for dry hair. This duo helped so much with my curls without being heavy. It also smells great, but it isn’t overbearing. I’m currently using the Ghost Line (reviewed here!) which I’m loving and may be better for my newly short hair. Either way, I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from this brand and it’s already affordable thankfully.

Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Coco – This is my favorite warm and sweet scent. It’s not too close to baked goods, but it definitely has some nostalgic vibes in my opinion. Vanilla is my classic winter scent, but the coconut in this adds a tropical vibe that is fun for warm-weather vacations too. Perfume is rarely on sale, so this is a great time to treat yourself or pick up gifts.

There are so many products and brands from Sephora that I love (Tata Harper, Hourglass, and First Aid Beauty to name a few), so I couldn’t include everything, but these products popped into my head right away and are so good I HAD to include them. What are your Sephora Favorites?? Anything new you’re picking up during the sale?

Clio Palmperfect Cordless Shaver (and my Self Tanning Routine)

A convenient beauty tool

Have you ever been wearing a skirt and crossed your legs in a meeting and then realized you did a terrible job shaving your knees? Just me? On more than one occasion, I’ve wished I had a razor with me for a quick fix. So I was pretty excited when Clio reached out about their Palmperfect Cordless Shaver.

I like the smaller size compared to most electric razors and how quickly this takes care of any unwanted hair. I think it’s especially great for the underarms as the rounded top is perfect for this more delicate area. I love that you don’t need water or shaving cream either, so you can quickly take care of shaving anywhere.

This is going to be perfect for beach trips or warm-weather travel! Or even when I’m wearing a sleeveless blouse to the office. At under $10, this such an affordable tool to have on hand – I definitely recommend it.

I also tried self tanning for the first time (review coming next week!) and the Palmperfect has been working like a charm to prep my skin. I can easily shave my legs and underarms without nicks or having to hop in the shower.

If I am doing my nighttime, post-workout shower routine, I’ll also use a body scrub to help exfoliate and make sure my skin is smooth first. My favorites are the Josie Maran Argan Sugar Scrub and the Sol de Janeiro Bod Buff! Then I’ll mix the Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops into one of my favorite body lotions and apply all over. I’m sadly almost finished with the Soap and Glory Smoothie Star Body Milk, which smells amazing and hydrates without being heavy.

Have you ever tried an electric razor before? What’s your favorite self tanner? I’m hooked on both now!

Soft Touch Foot Peel Mask Review

The most effective mask ever

I am honestly blown away by this Foot Peel Mask* from Soft Touch. It peeled the dead skin from my feet extremely well, so I wanted to share the process.

This pack comes with two masks, so Reed and I were able to use them together. I think it’s really reasonably priced at $15.95, especially considering how well it works!

First, you cut the top off two plastic, foot-shaped bags, slip your (clean) feet in, and use the tape to secure the opening. They’re nicely filled with the peeling gel, so this helps secure them. You have to wear the mask for 60 minutes, so the tape is definitely convenient for moving around (although I wouldn’t suggest walking a bunch while you wear these).

Our feet felt chilly and wet at first. Reed experienced some warming after about ten minutes. It was mild and not irritation, such as itching or burning. I experienced the warming sensation about 40 minutes in. It didn’t hurt at all.

After an hour, we washed our feet and then the waiting began. The directions say it takes about a week to start peeling and can last for two weeks. Mine started in four days! I guess there was a lot of skin that needed to be shed – haha. Reed’s started the next day. This is the best and most satisfying part!

I want to note that you are not supposed to peel or rip the skin from your feet. It will loosen and fall off naturally. However, I’m a picking kind of person (and also, the idea of dead skin falling off all over the house freaked me out). I’m not recommending that you peel your skin, but I could tell mine was ready as large curls of skin around the edges of my feet were already appearing.

The amount of skin that came off for the first three days was actually amazing. I’ve been scrubbed at a hammam in Marrakech and still have never seen that much dead skin come off of my body. This may be graphic, but there was about a palmful of dead skin flakes/peels every day. They looked like when you peel sunburn, but a bit thicker. It was really interesting that not only the entire bottom of my feet and heels peeled, but also in between my toes and the top of my foot.

I’m so impressed with this mask! It was kindly gifted by the brand, but I will definitely be purchasing more for later in the summer! The first one came at the perfect time so my feet feel perfectly smooth for my Florida trip!

Have you ever tried a foot mask? How about any other fun or interesting masks?
