Morphe 15T Palette Review and Swatches

A colorful, wearable palette!

This is my very first Morphe palette thanks to BookSparks! I collaborated with them on this Instagram post and have been enjoying this palette so much that I wanted to share it here too. It’s the 15T Your True Selfie palette and it has a variety of warm brown, red, and orange tones along with a purple and the bottom row is full of green options. I love the color selection! It’s unique in my collection, but I find myself reaching for it quite often.

There are shimmers and mattes in this palette; in general, the shimmers are more consistently smooth and pigmented compared to the mattes. For example, #MorpheBabe, #StrikeAPose, and #Throwback all performed beautifully – they were pigmented with just one swipe, didn’t skip at all, and weren’t chalky. However, #IWokeUpLikeDis, #SorryNotSorry, #OOTD, and #RelationshipGoals felt slightly drier and the swatches were patchy. Thankfully, you can blend them out pretty well on the eyes, but I still prefer the first three.

The shimmers on the other hand were creamy and easy to swatch, plus they apply beautifully on the eyes with no fallout. The only shade that’s a little off is #DopePic; it’s more of a matte with glitter running through it and created that same patchy swatch.

Here are the swatches from my elbow up to my wrist:

  • #MorpheBabe
  • #StrikeAPose
  • #DopePic
  • #NoFilterNeeded
  • #BlendTheRules
  • #IWokeUpLikeDis
  • #SorryNotSorry
  • #OOTD
  • #Throwback
  • #RelationshipGoal
  • #Artist
  • #Before
  • #After
  • #WerkIt
  • #Glam

Here’s the look I created inspired by The Gilded Wolves cover! It’s a subtle smoky eye – something I would definitely wear on a night out. I’m more comfortable wearing “no makeup” makeup for every day, but I love playing with color and green is one of my favorites! I used #StrikeAPose, #WerkIt, #After, and a tiny bit of #NoFilterNeeded. I also went in with a matte cream shadow single for my brow bone – I think this palette is missing that along with a pale shimmer shade.

Overall, this palette is so versatile and you can create looks for both day and night, for work or play. The warm mattes make a great, simple look to define the eye while the shimmers catch the light in a beautiful, attention-grabbing way. You can keep it neutral or add pops of colors. For $16, I would definitely recommend it!

Kaleido Cosmetics Sponge Shadow and Vacay Vibes Palette – Swatches and Review

The most beautiful shadows!

Kaleido Cosmetics is a cruelty-free, vegan, ethically-sourced line with lots of beautiful, affordable products. They recently sent me a generous package and I’ve been testing everything for a couple weeks now. The eyeshadows have turned out to be my very favorite item from their collection, so I wanted to share my thoughts and some swatches.

Here are swatches of the Vacay Vibes Palette ($14). These are highly pigmented – I simply wiggled my finger for a second and then swiped once on my arm with little to no pressure. I would say the texture is like a pressed pigment – although there is hardly any fallout, except for with the shade Plankton. Overall I am very impressed with the quality of these shadows!

From the top we have Majesty, Element, Island, Plankton, Onda, and Eco-warrior. I love the names and theme of this palette. The colors are stunning and unique to my collection as well. I have similar golds, but these two are more bronze and more orange, respectively. My greens lean more forest green with yellow undertones while this is a deeper emerald. My red shades tend to be deeper burgundies while this is closer to rust. I don’t have anything like Plankton or Eco-warrior.

The palette itself is a thick and sturdy cardboard that magnetically closes. It has a nicely sized mirror on the inside and the same cute pattern on the outside. I know some people don’t like split pans, but these are large enough to fit even a fluffy crease brush into one color without dipping into the other. I think the duos are beautifully paired as well, so I really like the set up. If they were all single circular pans, the palette would be much larger and less travel friendly. Even as half pans, these are so pigmented that they will last me a very long time.

Next we have four of the Sponge Shadows ($9). These are a cream-powder hybrid texture and they feel bouncy in the pan. The name sponge totally makes sense and they remind me of the Kaja Beauty Mochi Glow Highlighters that I reviewed here.

I really love this formula because it’s easy to work with and gives a beautiful metallic finish without any fallout. I did want to note that I wore Pink Light on its own and it creased very easily. However, Furnace didn’t crease at all on me. To make things easy, I’ve just been using my Sephora Tinted & Cooling Eye Primer and that works perfectly with any shade.

Starting at the top is Furnace, Grunge, Fantasy, and Pink Light. Furnace is my favorite color of all of these shadows. It may seem boring, but it actually has a duochrome finish that catches the light in such a gorgeous way. My eyes are somewhat deeper set, so I can’t wear super dark colors; this is a medium brown with warm undertones, but the reflect is a light, cool-toned taupe. It’s so beautiful!

As a fan of green eyeshadow, the middle two shades are right up my alley. I think I’ll wear Grunge more than Fantasy because I don’t wear pastels that often. It does make a nice pop in the center of the lid though! Pink Light is a perfect one shadow look and also has somewhat of a duochrome finish in that it looks more gold or more pink depending on the angle.

These are single shadows in white, plastic packaging with a clear snap lid. I like how you can see the color without having to open each shade or check the back. There’s also a cute interwoven hexagon shape imprinted on each shadow.

Overall, I am loving Kaleido Cosmetics and would highly recommend their shadows, especially because they’re so affordable and cruelty-free!

Winky Lux Experience NYC #itsawinkyworld

Another fun store visit!

I just wrote about popping by The Detox Market’s new NYC location and have another shop to share today! Anastasia and I reserved tickets for the Winky Lux Experience this afternoon. It costs $10 to tour seven adorably themed rooms and then you get to apply that $10 to any makeup or skincare in the store!

I liked that each theme corresponded to a Winky Lux product and a helpful guide shared ingredients, texture tips, and swatches as we went through the rooms. The rooms are very playful and some are interactive. They’re all, of course, very Instagrammable.

We had a group of just four girls, which was perfect to view each room and take pictures together. The rooms are kind of small, so I wouldn’t recommend going with a larger group. We had plenty of time to explore the products and take pictures in each room – we didn’t feel rushed at all. Thankfully the other two girls with us were bloggers too!

Afterward we shopped around a bit. I was torn between these gorgeous Glazed Lip glosses and the Kitten Palette. The glosses smell delicious – like doughnuts – and they aren’t sticky at all. They aren’t super pigmented either, but you can definitely tell the difference between the shades. I like that they’re more of lip toppers and easy to apply on the go since they’re sheer.

The Kitten Palette has a perfect mix of neutral and fun shades in my opinion. The shimmers were buttery and the mattes were pretty smooth. I was definitely tempted by this, but I just purchased the new Becca palette and don’t need another eyeshadow palette right now. Plus I don’t have that many lip glosses! I went for the Berry one since it has a fun purple undertone that’s nice for fall. After the ticket discount, it was less than $4 with tax!

I’ve been wearing it for a couple hours and the texture is very smooth on the lips. It hasn’t faded at all which is impressive for a gloss and it feels hydrating as well. The applicator is great for applying enough product with just one dip into the tube too.

Overall, I would totally recommend making a reservation to see the rooms and then using your credit to shop! All of their products are so adorable and affordable too!

Kaja Beauty Swatches! Launching at Sephora on 9/18

A new K-Beauty launch!

Meet Kaja Beauty, a Korean Beauty brand that’s exclusively launching in Sephora on Tuesday! This line has the cutest packaging and fun product names, like stacked shadows and a highlighter called Mochi Glow! I love all the pastel shades and pops of berries on the outer packaging and the actual formulas are all beautifully pigmented as well. I think they did a wonderful job with the variety of textures too, from bouncy highlighters, pressed glitter eyeshadows, and creamy lip stains to cushion blushes.

I received an incredibly generous package to review, so here are some swatches! In an effort to be less wasteful and pass on products I knew I wouldn’t wear (either because I’m so pale or just from personal preference), I didn’t swatch every shade. So check out the Sephora website because their swatches are great!

These are the adorable Cheeky Stamp Blendable Blushes ($24) in Coy, Bossy, Fiesty, and Saucy (from the open one clockwise). They’re a cushion formula and the top twists off to reveal a heart-shaped applicator. It’s dense and a bit hard, so I wasn’t expecting to like it, but the applicator is actually perfect for tapping the blush into your skin. You can also use it to apply a bit of the color and then easily blend with your fingers since the formula is so liquid.

Here’s my favorite shade, Fiesty. It’s a cool-toned pink that looks like a cute, natural flush on the skin. The bottom swatch is one press with the applicator, while I dotted the top one about five times. The packaging is a bit bulky compared to most slim blushes, but I actually appreciate how the applicator is built right in. Since I love their heart-shaped sponge, I can ditch my blush brush, which saves space and is perfect for travel.

These adorable highlighters make me think of Neapolitan ice cream! They’re too cute! The Mochi Glow Bouncy Highlighter ($19) comes in four shades that should work for any skin tone. Prizm (opened) is a duo-chrome pinky-peach – it’s a really fun shade. Toy Alien (front) is a cool-toned champagne. Luna (left) is a medium gold and Stardust (right) is a bronze shade. I think these have my favorite texture; they’re bouncy and smooth while still being shimmery and reflective. I’m not a big highlighter-wearer, but I think Prizm is a unique option that I’m excited to try out!

Here’s a swatch of the Cushy Vibe High-Pigment Lip Stain in Cashmere. I love that this formula is a true lip stain and not exactly a liquid lipstick; they don’t flake off and instead leave a popsicle like stain as they fade. You can use the doe-foot applicator to apply full on color or dab a tiny amount in with your finger for a pretty flush. You have to be a little more precise with the full on color since these are SO pigmented, but they last a really long time as a stain. Cashmere is a gorgeous berry that’s perfect for fall.

I love the name and packaging on the Beauty Bento Bouncy Shimmer Eyeshadow Trio ($21). They’re a conveniently stacked trio with a mirror in the lid. All of the shades are glittery and highly pigmented; I was really impressed with how reflective they are! There’s a bit of fallout to watch out for since they’re so glittery. I don’t own glitter glue, but that would probably help. Considering how many single shades at Sephora are $20, I think these are a great deal!

Here’s the Orange Blossom trio, which just screams fall to me. The top shade is more rose gold, while the middle is an orangey-gold, and the bottom is a bronze-ish brown. See how well they catch the light? I’m definitely going to be wearing these all over the lid.

While I’m normally drawn to warmer shades, the Rosewater trio is actually my favorite! I think the shadows are all so beautiful and I can see myself traveling with just this and two matte singles, light cream and taupe. The top shade is like a champagne, the middle is a light pink, and the bottom is a stunning burgundy. The way these reflect light is just mesmerizing.

Overall, I’m loving how playful and unique this line is! I would definitely recommend checking it out, especially if you see a shade you like in the eyeshadows or blushes.
