Sharing K-beauty favorites
I’m super excited to share all of the fun products I have been trying out from I Dew Care and Nooni. They’re two K-beauty brands that are available on Memebox. I’m a new ambassador on the site and you can shop all of my favorites here!
Let’s start with my favorite item: the Nooni Applebutter Lip Mask. I have chronically dry lips and have to put on lip balm several times a day. I first used this as an overnight mask and was happily surprised when I woke up with moisturized lips! I loved it so much that I started applying it a couple times during the day as well. It goes on like a shiny balm – it’s not too glossy, but it looks pretty enough to wear on its own. The texture melts into the lips without being thick either. I also love that it comes with a little plastic spoon because I can be a bit of a germaphobe and try to avoid lip products in jars.
The Appleberry and Applemint Lip Oils are lovely too. They aren’t as moisturizing as the mask, but they do leave a good bit of hydration behind. The berry one leaves a pretty red stain on the lips while the mint isn’t tinted at all.
I have also been trying out some face masks from I Dew Care. Isn’t their packaging so cute? I love the emojis on their boxes, pastel colors, and reflective lettering.
One of my favorite items is actually the Silicone Brush Mask. It makes applying any face mask so much faster and less messy. It also helps with even application for masks that need a thicker layer, such as these peel off masks! Disco Kitten is an exfoliating and illuminating mask while Sugar Kitten is hydrating. They peel off very nicely in one piece, plus they have the prettiest iridescent formula that makes for fun Instagram Stories haha.
Lastly, I’ve been enjoying the Double Down 2-Step Mask. I have never seen a sheet mask with multiple steps and I think it’s such a smart idea! First you exfoliate with a mini mitt for 5 minutes to prep the skin. Then you apply a brightening sheet mask for 20 minutes. Sheet masks are a nice treat in my opinion, but they’re usually just relaxing or hydrating in my experience. So I was really surprised that this one actually makes my skin look more radiant and clear and feel softer.
It’s pretty rare for me when everything I try from a brand works out, so I’ve been really impressed with both Nooni and I Dew Care! I’d recommend any of these products, but my absolute favorites are the Applebutter Lip Mask, Silicone Brush Mask, and Double Down 2-Step Masks!
These products were kindly gifted via Memebox and all opinions are my own. Thank you Veronica!
I’m doing a giveaway on Instagram and figured I would share it here too! This includes 5 full size items and a few minis from some of my very favorite brands across skincare, makeup, and bodycare. It ends Thursday, so head over to this post to enter. If you’re following my blog already, you have 5 extra entries! Piece of cake.
What are some of your favorite brands? Any ideas for my next giveaway?
Sharing an easy routine
I’ve been narrowing down my haircare products to find a routine that works for my fine, wavy hair. This one is pretty simple and only requires three products after the shower. Then I have my two favorite dry styling products from Living Proof when my hair needs a refresh or some hold.
After shampoo and conditioner (I’m currently using this line which smells amazing but doesn’t weigh my hair down), I wrap my hair in a cotton t-shirt for ten minutes. It’s pretty long, so this helps cut down on the time it takes to air dry my hair.
Then, while it’s damp, I spray this Bumble and Bumble Curl Primer all over. I love how it adds hydration without being heavy; my hair is pretty dry, so I even use it at my roots and it doesn’t make them greasy at all. It also smells great! I sadly just finished my bottle after taking this shot, so I’m using the Ouai Leave in Conditioner. It works well, but the scent is really strong.
Then I spray the Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Sea Salt Spray from my ears down. It helps give a little more definition to my waves. It also has aloe vera so it’s not too drying (but I always need a leave in beforehand). Another favorite is the Davines This is a Sea Salt Spray which smells divine and works beautifully.
Lastly, I add a tiny amount of this Curl Keeper Gel for a little hold. You have to be careful not to use too much or it can get crunchy. This keeps my waves intact and helps cut down on frizz.
Since I only wash my hair three times a week, I need dry shampoo in the meantime. This Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo is the best I’ve tried. It’s so effective at removing oil and shakes out easily. The scent isn’t too strong but it smells great in my opinion. I’ve also liked the Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo and Hask Chia Seed Dry Shampoo. The latter is so affordable, but it does leave a little build-up.
Lastly, if I’m going to curl my hair with a wand, I use the Not Your Mother’s Beat the Heat Shield Spray first (totally forgot to shoot…). After I’m done, I’ll spray this Living Proof Flex Shaping Hairspray from my ears down. It’s never crunchy, which I love, and I can easily run my hands through my hair afterward. Living Proof products have really impressed me – I don’t think there’s a single one that didn’t work for me!
Those are my styling staples and quick routine – it literally takes two minutes to apply the three products and then I finish air drying. What are your favorite haircare brands?? Anything I should try for dry, wavy hair?
Featuring a French favorite
I wanted to start a new series featuring some of my favorite brands with an overview or quick reviews of the products I’ve been loving. It’s the perfect time to begin with L’Occitane since they’re having their 20% Friends and Family Sale this week (by the way this totally isn’t sponsored – I just love the line!).
When I lived in Chicago, I walked past a L’Occitane store nearly every day and often popped in for the scents alone; everything they make smells delicious or beautiful. I actually put a piece of the Verbena soap in my jewelry box, so I can smell it more often. It’s such a refreshing, pretty fragrance that’s perfect for spring.
Since being back in NYC, I don’t come across their stores as often, so I’m really glad they reminded me of their products with this cute gift set. I’ve loved the Shower Oil for years – it’s plush and foams up, but it’s also super moisturizing. I hadn’t tried the classic Shea scent before though and I really like it so far.
Surprisingly, I haven’t really explored their skincare, besides an eye cream a while back, so I was excited to try this face cream. It’s the Immortelle Precious Cream – pretty serious name, huh? I love the texture of this – it feels rich without being greasy. It has a somewhat floral scent, so just be careful if you’re sensitive to fragrance.
I usually have one of their Shea Butter Hand Creams in each of my bags and on my nightstand too. They’re really moisturizing without leaving a gross residue behind. This one is in the Cherry Blossom scent, but I absolutely love the Zesty Lime one that comes out during this time of year. It’s fresh and citrusy and perfect for some warmer weather! The bright green tube is also easy to spot in your bag.
My very favorite line has to be the Almond – these products smell so warm and comforting and make my skin really soft. I’ve had the Shower Oil, Milk Concentrate, and tiny Exfoliating Soap from a gift set last Christmas. This is the most luxurious line in my opinion and totally worth the price because the products last quite a while and the scent lingers on your skin all day.
Now I’m craving the Almond line and I definitely want to try more of their skincare. Have you ever tried L’Occitane? What’s your favorite body care brand?
My favorite shower things
Sometimes I forget about the products in my shower – even though they’re some of my most used items! So, I figured I would share some of my favorite body products, haircare, and other shower essentials.
I’m obsessed with this Josie Maran Argan Sugar Balm Body Scrub ($38 for 10oz). It has a lovely abrasive texture for removing dead skin and then melts into a balm which leaves behind a layer of argan oil, coconut oil, and shea butter. It sounds a bit weird, but it’s really convenient to have a single product for both exfoliating and moisturizing. This smells amazing as well – sweet and citrusy. It also comes with this adorable wooden scoop, so you don’t get the jar gross or wet with your fingers.
This Number 4 Hair Care Detangling Comb is really useful and only $4! I think I received mine when I purchased a couple items from Birchbox, like their Super Comb Prep and Protect and Clarifying Shampoo. Reed loved the leave in conditioner and I was impressed that the shampoo was sulfate-free yet still effectively clarifying. This comb doesn’t rip out any hair and detangles gently. The curved end means you can hang it on your shower and I love the bright color.
Another bright item is this coral razor from Billie, a new subscription service. I’ve been super loyal to the Venus + Olay razors for about five years, but here in NYC, the refills can be $30 for six. Billie is only $9 for 4 cartridges that are automatically shipped to you. The blades are sharp and there’s an aloe bar for smooth gliding, but you still should use shaving cream. My old ones did have a giant comfort bar on both sides (and they smelled amazing – which is actually kind of weird for a razor), so I didn’t need shaving cream. You can sign up for Billie with my referral link if you’d like.
I have a couple face washes in my shower – the Acure Organics gel is great for removing makeup. It says it’s for normal to oily skin on the packaging, but I have dry skin right now and it doesn’t strip my skin at all. Reed loves the St. Ives Green Tea Scrub which I only use after a sweaty workout. The exfoliant particles are now 100% natural (instead of microbeads). It does contain dyes, which I think is stupid, but I’ve found most acne targeting cleansers are way too harsh for me and this one works to keep minimal breakouts at bay.
I didn’t photograph my shampoo and conditioner because they’re all almost empty and looking well loved. I adore the Alterna Caviar Moisture line, but at $34 a bottle, it’s a splurge. I’m currently rotating between the Verb Hydrating line ($14/bottle) and Living Proof Perfect Hair Day line ($26/bottle). I like them both and would definitely repurchase either. My hair is dry, fine, and wavy for reference.
Since I’m almost out of shampoo and conditioner, what line should I try next?? What’s your favorite shower product?
