My Sephora Sale Haul & Reviews

A small haul, but they’re all wins!

I picked up three things from the Sephora Sale back in April and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying all three! That’s a win for me because I usually like to swatch or smell everything before buying, but with all the stores closed, I picked these sight unseen. 2/3 three times I do that, the product doesn’t work out for me (I get migraines from strong scents and I’m really picky about colors), but I’m so happy these three worked out!

Amika Flash Instant Shine Mask

The Amika Flash Instant Shine Mask ($25) is my favorite find from this haul. It is SO effective. I’m going to share a full review with photos of my results, but in the meantime, just know that this rivals my oil treatments from the salon and takes 1/100th of the time and costs 1/4th of the price of those!! If your hair is dull or frizzy, I highly recommend this 60 second mask.

Nails Inc Cosmic Blur Swatch

I had been looking for a sheer, shimmery polish with a blue reflect for months! This is the Nails Inc. Cosmic Blur polish ($15) and the formula is really easy to work with. The level of sheerness is perfect and I adore the blue shimmer (it’s super smooth – no glitter here). However, in certain lighting, it makes my nails look yellow, which isn’t super flattering and it also has a pink reflect. I was hoping this would be my wedding nail polish, but I’m not sure it’s exactly what I was going for. It’s still really fun and pretty for every day though!

Wander Beauty Lip Retreat Oil in Oasis

I absolutely love Wander Beauty and basically want everything they come out with, so I decided to finally treat myself to this Lip Retreat Oil ($22) since I just finished my Kopari Coconut Lip Glossy. It comes in four shades, but I chose Oasis (clear) because most days, I’m really just looking for hydration versus color. (Plus, if I do want a tint, I can’t get over the Tower 28 Beauty Lip Jelly in Fire!)

This provides a beautiful shine with a formula that feels very plush and moisturizing. The pointed applicator picks up the perfect amount of product without having to re-dip too. The Lip Glossy is only $13 and just as hydrating (plus it smells delicious), but I do like this wand applicator over the squeeze tube.

Verb Volume Shampoo and Conditioner (vs Ghost and Hydrate)

Comparing three great lines

You probably already know how much I love Verb if you’ve read my blog before or follow me on Instagram. I like everything I’ve tried so far and always look forward to testing out different lines within the brand. The Verb girls kindly sent over the Volume Shampoo and Conditioner and I’ve been using them for a couple weeks now.

I have fine, wavy hair that is easily weighed down, so I’m usually lacking volume. However, my hair is really dry and my waves turn into frizz without a little hydration. A few months ago I cut off over eight inches, so my hair falls to my collarbones now.

Overall the Volume Shampoo and Conditioner have really impressed me! They actually give my hair lift and thickness without creating tons of knots or taking away the healthy shine. I can definitely see a difference when I use this duo, especially around my crown where my hair can look quite flat. Thankfully, the shampoo cleanses well without stripping and the conditioner doesn’t leave any buildup behind. Most volumizing products haven’t worked for me; they either create so much texture that my hair looks messy and tangled or they don’t do anything at all. Verb’s Volume Shampoo and Conditioner are really effective, so I would highly recommend trying them if you’re looking for extra bounce.

So how does it compare to the other Verb duos? I’ve been using the Ghost line since I chopped my hair and it makes my strands look shiny and feel soft too. It is still my favorite line since my hair is so dry; it needs the balance between weightless moisture and bounce. When my hair was down to the middle of my back and a bit damaged due to the length, the Hydrate line was my very favorite. It’s so plush and moisturizing. The Hydrate Mask really replenished my hair and helped with frizz. I reviewed it along with the Ghost line here. I’ll definitely be using the Volume line once a week when I want some extra lift!

I love that all of the Verb Shampoos are sulfate-free and their Conditioners don’t weigh my hair down. The whole line is cruelty-free and each item is only $16 as well! If you’d like 16% off your order, you can shop with my friend link!

Verb Review and Updated Haircare Routine

An affordable and luxurious line

Verb has quickly become my favorite haircare line. I love their scents, simple packaging, and effective products. Plus they’re all $16, cruelty-free, and sulfate-free! You can actually receive 16% anything from Verb through my link if you’d like!

Their Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner were my go-to shower choices for the past year, and I wanted to try another one of their lines when I ran out last month. I decided on the Ghost Shampoo and Conditioner which cleanse and smooth weightlessly. My hair is pretty fine, so it’s easily dragged down (which can make my curls fall flat). It’s also quite dry; the Hydrating line did a great job addressing that, but it’s good to rotate every once in a while.

I’m really enjoying Ghost so far! The Shampoo lathers into a really fluffy and soft wash that easily rinses out. It doesn’t feel stripped or straw-like afterward either. The Conditioner is hydrating without being heavy. I leave it in for about five minutes before rinsing and it makes my hair feels really soft. They both smell great, but it’s not too perfume-y or strong. I think my hair could use a bit more moisture/taming, which is easily solved with my styling products.

For some added frizz-fighting and UV protection, I’ll spray the Bumble & Bumble Invisible Oil Primer from roots to ends. It’s also lightweight and smells nice, plus it adds that extra boost of hydration to my dry hair. Lastly, I lock it all in with the Verb Curl Cream. This really helps define my waves into looser ringlets while adding hold that’s not crunchy at all. I haven’t found a curl gel or cream that works as well and has allowed me to wear my hair down so much more often! I would highly recommend this product if you have waves or curls.

I love how quick and easy these few steps are. I only wash my hair about three times a week, so I’ll add in dry shampoo and other styling products throughout the week to help keep my hair feeling this clean and smooth.

Verb has so many interesting products and since it’s an affordable brand (especially for Sephora), I feel like I can explore without too much risk. Plus, I’ve liked everything I’ve tried so far! Their Sea line, Dry Shampoo, and Volume Spray are definitely on my wishlist.
