Kaja Beauty Swatches! Launching at Sephora on 9/18

A new K-Beauty launch!

Meet Kaja Beauty, a Korean Beauty brand that’s exclusively launching in Sephora on Tuesday! This line has the cutest packaging and fun product names, like stacked shadows and a highlighter called Mochi Glow! I love all the pastel shades and pops of berries on the outer packaging and the actual formulas are all beautifully pigmented as well. I think they did a wonderful job with the variety of textures too, from bouncy highlighters, pressed glitter eyeshadows, and creamy lip stains to cushion blushes.

I received an incredibly generous package to review, so here are some swatches! In an effort to be less wasteful and pass on products I knew I wouldn’t wear (either because I’m so pale or just from personal preference), I didn’t swatch every shade. So check out the Sephora website because their swatches are great!

These are the adorable Cheeky Stamp Blendable Blushes ($24) in Coy, Bossy, Fiesty, and Saucy (from the open one clockwise). They’re a cushion formula and the top twists off to reveal a heart-shaped applicator. It’s dense and a bit hard, so I wasn’t expecting to like it, but the applicator is actually perfect for tapping the blush into your skin. You can also use it to apply a bit of the color and then easily blend with your fingers since the formula is so liquid.

Here’s my favorite shade, Fiesty. It’s a cool-toned pink that looks like a cute, natural flush on the skin. The bottom swatch is one press with the applicator, while I dotted the top one about five times. The packaging is a bit bulky compared to most slim blushes, but I actually appreciate how the applicator is built right in. Since I love their heart-shaped sponge, I can ditch my blush brush, which saves space and is perfect for travel.

These adorable highlighters make me think of Neapolitan ice cream! They’re too cute! The Mochi Glow Bouncy Highlighter ($19) comes in four shades that should work for any skin tone. Prizm (opened) is a duo-chrome pinky-peach – it’s a really fun shade. Toy Alien (front) is a cool-toned champagne. Luna (left) is a medium gold and Stardust (right) is a bronze shade. I think these have my favorite texture; they’re bouncy and smooth while still being shimmery and reflective. I’m not a big highlighter-wearer, but I think Prizm is a unique option that I’m excited to try out!

Here’s a swatch of the Cushy Vibe High-Pigment Lip Stain in Cashmere. I love that this formula is a true lip stain and not exactly a liquid lipstick; they don’t flake off and instead leave a popsicle like stain as they fade. You can use the doe-foot applicator to apply full on color or dab a tiny amount in with your finger for a pretty flush. You have to be a little more precise with the full on color since these are SO pigmented, but they last a really long time as a stain. Cashmere is a gorgeous berry that’s perfect for fall.

I love the name and packaging on the Beauty Bento Bouncy Shimmer Eyeshadow Trio ($21). They’re a conveniently stacked trio with a mirror in the lid. All of the shades are glittery and highly pigmented; I was really impressed with how reflective they are! There’s a bit of fallout to watch out for since they’re so glittery. I don’t own glitter glue, but that would probably help. Considering how many single shades at Sephora are $20, I think these are a great deal!

Here’s the Orange Blossom trio, which just screams fall to me. The top shade is more rose gold, while the middle is an orangey-gold, and the bottom is a bronze-ish brown. See how well they catch the light? I’m definitely going to be wearing these all over the lid.

While I’m normally drawn to warmer shades, the Rosewater trio is actually my favorite! I think the shadows are all so beautiful and I can see myself traveling with just this and two matte singles, light cream and taupe. The top shade is like a champagne, the middle is a light pink, and the bottom is a stunning burgundy. The way these reflect light is just mesmerizing.

Overall, I’m loving how playful and unique this line is! I would definitely recommend checking it out, especially if you see a shade you like in the eyeshadows or blushes.

Drugstore Delight or Dud? Maybelline Palettes

Swatching these surprising palettes

As you may know, my recent drugstore haul didn’t really impress me, but so many people rave about drugstore items! Plus my current favorite concealer is from Maybelline, so I’ve definitely found some great products too.

I also just won these palettes in a giveaway from Beti. Her blog is my go-to for reviews and swatches and I’m in love with her Instagram. She’s also so sweet and friendly! So, I’ve decided to start a new series called Drugstore Delight or Dud? I’ll test and swatch affordable items and decide if they deserve a spot in my makeup bag!

First up is the Maybelline Master Bronze Bronze and Highlight Kit. It has a shimmery highlight, shimmery bronzer, glitter-flecked bronzer, and a satin bronzer. The texture of these powders is lovely! They’re soft without being dusty. When I lightly tapped my brush in the deepest shade, it was full of pigment right away. Thankfully, it blends out like a dream and sits on the skin beautifully. It also lasted 8 hours without fading.

Here are swatches from the highlight on the left of the palette to the darkest bronzer on the right. The last shade is definitely my favorite; it adds a beautiful warm glow to the skin. The highlight is also the perfect champagne shade with no glitter fallout! It looks very gold here, but it’s definitely not that bold or pigmented on the face. The shimmery bronzer is too much for me personally, so I’ll probably use it as eye shadow. The only color I don’t really like is the third shade, the glitter-flecked bronzer. You can’t really see it in the swatch, but check out this candid picture:

I just don’t like actual glitter particles, especially in a bronzer, because they don’t look natural at all. I much prefer a glow or subtle shimmer. Overall though, I’m really impressed with this palette – it’s a Drugstore Delight!

Next is the Maybelline City Mini Palette in Downtown Sunrise. I absolutely love the color combination here and I’ve heard some YouTubers (like Tati) rave about these in the past. These powders are a bit chunkier, but they’re still relatively smooth. It just means that they have a little fallout (whereas the bronzer palette didn’t have any). I don’t really mind because the colors are very pigmented and blendable. I also like that the palette is compact, but you can create multiple looks because of the color selection.

Here are the swatches; the lightest two matte shades aren’t as pigmented as the rest, but they’re also closest to my skin tone, so it’s harder to see them. I love that there’s a matte brow bone highlight, transition shade, and dark brown. The shimmers are perfect too whether you want a pop of color or neutral lid.

The pink is absolutely gorgeous and has a strong gold shift – it reminds me a little bit of Kat Von D Thunderstruck in that regard. It also looks like the new Becca Parisian Lights highlighter in my opinion. The lighter shimmer is also interesting because it can look more golden or more cool toned depending on the light. All in all, I’d say this is a Drugstore Delight too! I’m happy to have both in my collection.

I’ll have a YouTube video up soon demonstrating both palettes, so keep an eye out for that! What do you guys think of this new series? Are there any drugstore items you’d like me to try next??
