Erno Laszlo Holiday Party! And My Favorite Products

Celebrating the season and great skin!

Anastasia and I went to the Erno Laszlo Holiday Party last night and had such a fun time, so I wanted to share a few photos! They had delicious signature cocktails, a palm reader and chocolate divination (more on that below!), and this fun photo booth with gigantic balloons.

It was so fun to meet the team and other bloggers at their office. Everyone was so friendly! Anastasia and I also got our palms read, which we’d never done before. It was really interesting and not awkward or corny, even though I’m a bit of a skeptic.

We also had a chocolate reading; I’d never even heard of this, but you pick a chocolate from a huge box of options and it’s supposed to reflect your personality. It was a fun experience since it was so different – and it was pretty spot on too!

Aren’t these products so beautiful? My favorites are the Hydra-Therapy Memory Sleeping Mask and Hydra-Therapy Boost Serum. The mask has this lovely bouncy texture that feels so plush on the skin. It hydrates beautifully overnight without being sticky or getting all over my pillow. You only need a pea-sized dollop too, so a little bit goes a long way.

The serum is great because it provides lightweight hydration. It helps smooth the skin as well, but it doesn’t leave a thick layer behind. This plays well with other products too, so I always use it in the morning as sort of a hydrating primer.

The Erno Laszlo team so kindly gave us a wonderful gift bag, so I’m really excited to try some more of their products!

The decor in the office was really chic too – just like Erno Laszlo packaging! Everything is black and white with some pink accents, like gorgeous velvet chairs. I loved this gallery wall with all kinds of inspirational product shots.

I was taking lots of little videos and boomerangs for my Instagram and forgot to take more still shots… So here are a couple peeks into the holidays displays and a lovely candy bar they had set up. The cozy fireplace and cute lights added to the festive theme, and I’m definitely feeling the holiday spirit now!

I can’t thank the team enough for inviting us! We had such a lovely time!

Weekend Wear: Leopard Flats! OOTD #20

Jazzing up a basic outfit

I had to document this outfit because it’s very possibly the last time my ankles will see the light of day this season! Okay, I’m being dramatic, but I basically wear boots every day from November to February.

I’m also frequently wearing turtlenecks because I hate when my neck is freezing. This basic beige one is from Uniqlo and I’m really impressed with the quality. I’ve had it for over a year and it hasn’t pilled at all or lost its shape. It’s a thicker cotton too, so it’s warmer than your typical J Crew tissue turtleneck, but it’s still pretty soft. Here are this year’s color options.

These leopard flats are from Steve Madden. I think they’re the first pair of shoes I have from that brand; they were really affordable and surprisingly comfortable! I had been looking for non-calf hair leopard flats for so long!! I didn’t want ones with a print so tiny that it wasn’t noticeable or so large that it became gaudy. I was also looking for a pair that was too warm-toned and orange looking, but not black and white either. I wanted a pointed toe too. This ideal leopard flat was much harder to come by than I would have thought! I’m really glad I didn’t settle though because they’re perfect!

Lastly, I’m wearing my trusty brushed sateen legging jeans from Loft. These are so soft and fit like a glove, but they’re still comfortable and have the perfect amount of stretch. I love the ankle-skimming length on the petite ones (I’m 5’2″).

I’m also carrying an old black crossbody – I’m in the market for a new one actually. Any recommendations for favorite handbag brands? I used to be a huge fan of Kate Spade and Furla – they both have classic shapes and are really great quality that’s lasted me years. I’m looking for something more fashion-y though – maybe angular, more fun, top handle? Not totally sure yet.

Overall, this is a really simple look, but I wanted to share since a few of you asked over on Instagram.

Weekend Wear: Cozy Turtleneck (OOTD #19)

Loving this crisp weather!

October is my favorite month; I love that you can enjoy being outside without a thousand layers on. The weather is crisp and it’s still sunny quite often, so it’s lovely to walk around. I’ve always been drawn to water (I miss our view of Lake Michigan!), so I’m really thankful we can walk over to the Hudson River and enjoy the piers there.

These Dolce Vita suede sneakers are perfect for walking around the city. They’re really comfy and I love that they slip on easily. They’re also taller, so they cover my ankles, which is great when it’s chilly.

It may be a weird time of year to be getting into lighter colors, but I’ve been loving lighter wash denim lately. I usually wear dark or black denim during the week and then fun patterned or embellished pairs on the weekend. These are different for me because they have a clean finish without any distressing or rips, but the color is laid back. I also like the split hem at the bottom for a more casual finish. Mine are from Loft this past summer, but you can similar options here or here.

October is also the best time to wear cozy sweaters. Turtlenecks are my favorite because I’m usually cold if my neck and chest are exposed. This charcoal one is a mockneck and it’s chenille too, so it’s really snuggly. I’m also eyeing this beige one to finish out fall and this emerald one for the holidays.

I can’t believe it’s already Halloween tomorrow! This month has seriously flown by… A friend is coming to visit and I still have no idea what I’m going to dress up as… Any ideas? Are you dressing up this year?

Weekend Wear: Fall Jacket! (OOTD #18)

A perfect addition for fall

When I was back in Chicago a couple weeks ago, my family headed out to Kuiper’s Family Farm for my favorite fall activity: apple picking!! We picked loads of delicious apples and snacked on cinnamon sugar doughnuts and kettle corn from the huge barn store. Half of the fun of Kuiper’s is slowly making your way through all of the fun rooms full of unique goods, from food to home decor. They even have a wine and cider tasting room.

The weather was perfect for breaking in my new Blank NYC Corduroy Moto Jacket. It has the cool vibe of a leather jacket, but the corduroy fabric adds an interesting twist. I love the charcoal gray color as well. This jacket is really comfortable and warmer than I was expecting too! The cord fabric has a great weight to it that helps fend off the chill, but it’s not too bulky either.

We usual don’t venture over to the pumpkin farm side because it’s more kid focused and the store is much smaller. It was the first beautifully chilly fall day though, so we felt like sticking around for a bit longer. Fall is my very favorite season, so it was fun to get in the spirit.

Aren’t these mini pumpkins just the cutest? I had to include a photo because they’re so adorable and just scream fall to me.

Do you have a fall tradition? What’s your favorite season?

Weekend Wear: Bright Red (OOTD #17)

Bright red is one of my new favorite colors and I’ve been loving this bright red top lately. It’s perfectly breezy for warm summer days, but it also layers well and can be dressed up for the office since it’s a silky fabric. The halter neckline is fun and flattering and I like the ruffle accents around the neck and waist.

This top also goes with everything, from white jeans to cut offs. I’ve gone with more tailored denim shorts here and added casual brown sandals. That link is for a similar pair from Madewell; I totally would not recommend the J Crew ones I’m wearing in the photo as they’ve already broken!

What’s great about this top is that I’ve also worn it with my favorite dress pants and a gray cardigan for the office. I love when my clothes can pull double duty since my weekend and work looks are usual very different. Sometimes I feel like I have two completely opposite wardrobes, so it’s nice to get a lot of wear out of one piece.

What’s your favorite color to wear lately? Any favorite spots for workwear that can transition into going out?
