Vapour Beauty Review and Swatches! Illusionist Concealer, Elixir Plumping Gloss, Aura Multi-use Stain, and Siren Lipsticks

My favorite clean makeup

I love everything about Vapour Organic Beauty – from their clean ingredients and focus on sustainability to the chic packaging and beautiful formulas. I discovered their products about a year ago from Credo Beauty and have been in love ever since. I also purchased a couple things from Dermstore back in April and reviewed them here. A couple weeks ago, Vapour was so kind to send over all of these gorgeous products so I could try more of the line!

These are the Siren Lipsticks in Desire (left) and Incognito (right) and I find this formula so comfortable to wear! It lasts pretty well for a finish that’s a bit glossy too. Desire is my favorite since it’s such a wearable shade; it’s slightly more pink than my natural lip color and brightens my lips nicely. It also goes with pretty much any eye look I’ve done recently. Incognito is a pretty, deeper neutral tone; I like the brown undertones in this one. Since these reflect light well (because they’re a little glossy), they make my lips look really healthy and plump! I also love the fresh, fruity scent.

The berry swatch closest to my thumb is the Aura Multi-use Stain in Scandal. It is such a gorgeous color! On my cheeks, it looks like the perfect flush from being out in the cold. I also have the Classic version in Spark and this one does last longer throughout the day since it’s a stain; it doesn’t go on dry or chalky though thankfully and you have plenty of time to blend it. I like this best as a blush, although it’s a beautiful lip color too.

The Vapour Illusionist Concealer is my go-to for easy, natural-looking coverage. I use it under my eyes, on my cheeks and nose, and sometimes my chin as my base; I love how radiant it looks under the eyes especially. I originally reviewed shade 010 here and now I have shade 015! It’s a bit darker and more yellow; since I’m a tiny bit tan still (thanks, Mexico trip and Isle of Paradise!), this matches my skin quite well and then I use 010 to brighten under the eyes and the down the bridge of my nose (where I have a lot of redness). Here are comparison swatches using indoor lighting and my phone’s flash. 010 looks so light here that you’d think it doesn’t match my skintone, but it’s actually just on the darkest part of my arm.

The swatch closet to my wrist is the Elixir Plumping Gloss in Flirt, which is a nice peachy shade. The formula isn’t sticky, but it is hydrating and has good color payoff. These glosses aren’t tingly (which I prefer) and I think the plumping effect comes from how juicy they make your lips look. They also smell like sweet strawberries or something – I love it! I want to try the shade Tickle next because I think it will make a great lip topper.

Overall, I am so impressed with everything I tried and can’t thank Vapour enough for sending such a generous package!

Winter Five Minute Face (featuring Vapour, Benefit, Covergirl, and Luxie Beauty)

My easiest makeup routine yet!

fullsizeoutput_196b

Lately I’ve been into longer, hydrating skincare routines and I think that extra attention is paying off as I’ve been wearing less makeup! I still love a little bronzer and mascara though, so I wanted to share the makeup I’ve been using recently.

The Vapour Illusionist Concealer had been my go-to for a while (first reviewed here) and I’ve lost most of my summer tan, so shade 010 matches me again thankfully. It has the perfect creamy texture that blends in easily around the delicate under-eye area. It doesn’t settle into lines and wrinkles too much either. My favorite thing about this concealer is the way it reflects light and distracts from my dark veins.

Since I’ve lost that tan, I use Benefit Hoola to bring back some sunshine and definition to my face. This is such a low maintenance bronzer – it’s not too dark, it blends like a dream, and it lasts all day. Sometimes I sweep a bit over my eyes as well to add definition to the crease.

Benefit’s Galifornia is the only blush I’ve been wearing lately. I love the warm undertone and beautiful coral shade; it looks subtle and perks up my face at the same time. I’ve been using this Luxie #660 brush that I received in a Boxycharm (unboxing and review here) to apply Galifornia. It’s supposed to be a foundation brush, but it’s pretty fluffy and diffused blush nicely.

This Get the Pretty Started palette was limited edition, but Benefit brought it back recently! It has two mini Box O’ Powders and a mini Watt’s Up Highlighter for only $20! I originally purchased it for travel, but I use it on a regular basis and would highly recommend it. I think it would make a great gift too.

Lastly, I picked up the Covergirl Super Thick Lash Mascara because the brush looked pretty similar to my HG mascara – Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme. It’s definitely a more natural look (whereas the EL one is very dramatic), but it does provide some nice volume and looks great with minimal makeup. The formula doesn’t bother my sensitive eyes at all, it doesn’t flake or smudge, and it removes easily with my Drunk Elephant Beste Jelly Cleanser. It’s also under $5 at the drugstore! So it’s not a dupe, but I would definitely repurchase.

Those are my staples for this season’s five minute face! What makeup items or brushes have you been loving lately?

The Detox Market Grand Opening in NYC

A gorgeous collection of clean beauty

Last weekend, Anastasia and I went to the grand opening of The Detox Market’s brand new store! I wanted to share a bit of a photo diary with some of the products I checked out since it’s such a beautiful shop. The atmosphere is really bright and airy; it felt so refreshing compared to Sephora’s dark interior. There are tons of wooden elements, green plants, and natural lighting flooding the space as well.

We also discovered a bunch of new-to-us brands, like Hynt (below) and Hush + Dotti (above). The testers are easily accessible and definitely make you want to swatch everything! All of the makeup is in the center of the store while skincare and haircare are along the walls. It’s very easy to shop by product type or by brand. The only thing I didn’t like was that there weren’t many price tags, so it was difficult to determine how much something cost if you were interested.

The grand opening was absolutely packed – with brands and shoppers! Rose Marie Swift from RMS Beauty was there, along with plenty of other brand founders and reps. I thought that was such a cool aspect to the event. I also like how The Detox Market has these signs to share more about the people behind the brands and their stories. Here’s Kjaer Weis (which I have been dying to try!).

There was a huge section of one of my favorite clean beauty brands, Vapour Organic Beauty (reviewed here). Their new glosses were very tempting! Look at all of these beautiful shades!

Here are swatches of the Vapour Beauty Multistick in Courtesan, W3ll People Contour + Highlight Duo, and Hush + Dotti Lip Gloss in Pami (so pigmented! and a unique orange shade). These were my favorite items and are next on my to-buy list! I’m currently on a no-buy after the VIB sale 😦

How gorgeous is this Shimmer Lip Whip by Kari Gran? It is the perfect lip topper shade, and I almost picked it up, but I think my Bite Beauty Lip Mask in Maple has a similar sheen.

I tried to get more photos of the store and services area, but there were so many people that I couldn’t get a great shot. So, I hope you enjoyed taking a look at some of the fun lines The Detox Market carries. I would highly recommend stopping by if you’re in New York!

5 Minute Face for Summer – Minimal Makeup

Easy, fast makeup

fullsizeoutput_1718

Summer is one the busiest times for me since I’m traveling a bunch. It’s also been incredibly hot and I don’t want to wear a lot of makeup that may melt off. So recently, I’ve paired down my everyday makeup to just a few steps. It has made getting ready in the morning or before a flight a bit faster and I’m into the minimal dewy look.

I totally forgot to include my First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Tinted Moisturizer since it’s in my medicine cabinet, but that’s the first step. I love that product for its lightweight feel and sheer coverage that adds a dewy glow to the skin. I have the shade Fair which matches me nicely now that I have a tiny tan. It has SPF 30, which I appreciate, but is unfortunately not Reef Safe, so I won’t be repurchasing it. Any recommendations for tinted moisturizers with Reef Safe SPF would be so helpful! I’ve tried the Raw Elements one, which is great on its own, but makes my face look super oily at the end of the day when layered with other makeup.

Next, I apply Vapour’s Illusionist Concealer in 010 under my eyes and brows, down the bridge of my nose, and a little on my cheeks. This brightens, highlights, and covers redness beautifully (full review here!). That quickly blends in with my Real Techniques Mini Expert Face Brush. I have the full size of this too and absolutely love it! This smaller version works just as beautifully and is so travel friendly.

One of my favorite steps is bronzer and my current go-to is the BareMinerals Invisible Bronze in Medium. This works nicely to warm up my complexion and looks very natural on the skin. It’s a bit strange that medium is my shade match in this product because I’m relatively fair, so be careful if you’re looking at the different shades. Sometimes I’ll blend this into the crease of my eyelid as eyeshadow too.

I’ve actually been using my Luxie Tapered Highlight Brush from June’s Boxycharm with that bronzer. It seems odd because bronzer brushes are generally quite large, but I don’t have much room in my travel makeup bag and was looking for another alternative. This one worked out because it’s a fluffy brush. If it were dense, it would be hard to lightly sweep product onto the skin.

Since there is a scar in my left brow and my brows can be a bit unruly, even a super minimal look includes some type of brow product for me. I love this Beautaniq Beauty Fill + Tame Brow Gel for how quickly and easily it applies and evens out my brows. It doesn’t leave them crunchy either. The Brunette color matches my dark brown, almost black brow hair really well, which can sometimes be hard with gels.

Lastly, I’ve been trying out the Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara in Black. It’s a very wet formula, so I have to be careful while applying or little specks get all over my lids (which is hard to hid when you’re not wearing any eyeshadow!). However the longer application time is worth it because it gives me serious length and pretty volume too.

So that’s this super simple look. I always have lip balm on and a few gloss options with me too. I love Tom Ford La Piscine and Clinique Pop Splash in Pinot Pop (swatched here).

What’s your favorite look for summer? Are you feeling a minimal vibe or all out glam?
